I appreciate all of your input and feedback. Both Habeeb and I realize there are many areas in our book that we can improve on. Please do not hesitate to e-mail me (saad.quadri@gmail.com) regarding any changes and improvements that can be made for future editions of this book or other books that may cover youth-relevant topics.

As for those who commented without reading the book, I would appreciate it if you can send me any feedback on the specific chapters and portions you had problems with if you do have an opportunity in the future to look over the book.

"I mean, if I cannot look my boss or professor in the eye, it would be absurd and will come across as just another reinforcement of the stereotype about Muslim woman."

Excellent point.

Thanks for the review, it seems the book seems to lack realistic outlook in addressing issues Muslims who live in the west often face. Not to mention the obsessive focus on our external cloths seems to have taken over the importance of character building. I always hear the complaint from Principles and VPs in public school, how Muslim girls might wear the hijab, but they lack basic adaab/manner...or...how Muslim boys lack basic concept of civil discourse and communication.

Also, the issue of lowering your gaze, what some people fail to comprehend is Allah often speaks to men first and women second when it comes to this dilemma and it concerns sexual look. We all need to read our Quran and learn the wisdom in many of its rules, and this particular rule addresses individuals who are looking at someone in a sexual way. I mean, if I cannot look my boss or professor in the eye, it would be absurd and will come across as just another reinforcement of the stereotype about Muslim woman. And let me tell you, I have no interest in most people I look direct at, and I do lower my gaze when I see an appealing dude. As the Prophet of Allah (SAW) stated, the first gaze is for you, the second one is against you....so I'm paraphrasing.

I'm not surprised though about how you saw that dress was discussed a lot in this book ~ clothing is a HUGE deal with youth and it is still a huge deal even with us 20 and 30 somethings. It's a big topic in the West and very much defines us in our society and culture here.
