Well, I stayed up as late as I possibly could in order to make it to the ten o’clock (and therefore one o’clock a.m. to my body) gathering of UU Bloggers hosted by Chris Walton & Deborah Weiner. While a pretty low key event, it was a treat gawking at the great and the good among our small band of specialty bloggers. Among this illustrious band I actually saw Chalice Chick and my personal hero Christine Robinson as well as the king of us all, Chris Walton himself! This alone was worth staying up so horribly late.
We sat in a large circle munching on ice cream or cheese sticks as was our want (and those worried about my Weight Watcher bone fides, rest assured I abstained from both) and talked blog stuff. Actually I mainly listened. Not only was I bone tired, but I’m living proof that a monkey can blog. They spoke of RSS feeds (I think that’s how it might be spelled), counts (I did figure out how to install something on this blog that seems to announce the number of hits, but this crowd actually know where hits come from. All so mysterious…), as well as other explorations of computer/blog universe esoterica.
Some, it turns out, actually have intentions with their blogs to shift the world’s opinion on this or that. I was impressed. Very impressed. I feel lucky to be semi-regular in posting whatever bright bauble I stumbled across or some half thought through opinion on one current event or another. It was sort of like that old Peanuts cartoon where the kids are laying on their backs watching the clouds and Linus says look I see Mozart and over there I see the signing of the Declaration of Independence. To which Charlie Brown replies, all I see is a kitty over there and over there, a doggy…
Sigh…
