What Are the Limits of Friendship with Non-Muslims? February 13, 2016

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Peace be upon you, and the Mercy of Allah and His Blessings.

Howdy all!  It is Saturday, February 13.  And you know what that means – only two days until all that Valentine’s candy goes on sale!  Whoooo!

But seriously, folks. Today’s video blog (does anyone else really, really hate the term “vlog”.  Hate it.  Hate, hate hate it.) covers the topic of non-Muslim friends.  Are we even allowed to have non-Muslim friends?  Well, the short answer, is yes, of course we are. But we have to always maintain proper Islamic etiquette (no, you can’t go play darts at the pub with your buddies from work, unless said pub only serves root beer).  You definitely are not allowed to cut ties due to the mere fact that a person is not Muslim, and that is especially true for blood relatives.  You are allowed to work together for good causes and to be kind, bake cookies, lobby for prison reform, whatever is good for the Ummah and humankind in general.  All within the limits of Islam.

That’s the setup.  Watch the video and inshaAllah (God willing) it will help you understand.
