“Love the Love” by nakedpastor David Hayward

The greatest mystics believed love is at the root of all things, the source of all things, fills all things, consumes all things. In fact, some give this love a capital “L”, as in “Love”, as if it personally loves us.

It is only our paradigms and language that seems to separates us. Our thoughts. All is love. Except where it isn’t. And there it is confusion.

Like this man in the cartoon, all we have to do is collapse our protection and let the love in. And out!

Over the years I have become so cold, numb, dead. ANd I promise when i say I am working on it, I mean it. But I constantly feel like the guy on left. I once saw in vibrant colors, but as the years progressed I’ve only seen in black and white.

I don’t quote the Bible much anymore, but one thing the Bible covers that I completely believe in is love.
    I John 4:8-
God is love. One of the shortest sentences in the Bible, yet so deep and profound is it, that there is a God that is so big we can’t even imagine the height and depth of him, yet he really does love us. He loves with a perfect love, not a faulty, sometimes fleeting love that we know here on earth.
    ———————————————————————————————————————————————–
    John 3:16-
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Jesus answered his father, “I will go.” He gave himself willingly. He suffered for us. He took pain onto his body so he could relate to us. He allowed himself to die, not pushing up as the ones who were hung on a cross did, prolonging their life a few minutes at a time. He allowed himself to suffocate by letting his body drop down. I don’t look at the “perish” part. I focus on the love part. It’s more important for people to know that there was someone who decided that they were worth dying for. We live in a completely unperfect place, where people are hurting so bad that you can only imagine how bad it is for them. Love is what they need, not condemnation.

    ———————————————————————————————————————————————–
    I Corinthians 13-
1Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.

11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Love is the toughest thing to perfect. We need to release anger, unforgiveness, have peace with ourselves, etc. etc. But it is so important to work on being love. If God is love, then when we work on loving, we are actually working on becoming more like our Heavenly Father.

A couple songs that come to mind:

What the world needs now is love sweet love,
It’s the only thing that there’s just too little of.
What the world needs now is love sweet love,
no not just for some but for everyone.

Lord we don’t need another mountain,
There are mountains and hillsides enough to climb,
There are oceans and rivers enough to cross
Enough to last until the end of time

What the world needs now is love sweet love,
it’s the only thing that theres just too little of,
what the world needs now is love sweet love,
no not just for some but for everyone

Lord, we dont need another meadow,
there are corn fields and wheat fields enough to grow,
there are sunbeams and moonbeams enough to shine,
oh listen Lord, if you want to know

What the world needs now is love sweet love,
its the only thing that theres just too little of.
what the world needs now is love sweet love,
no not just for some, oh but just for every every everyone.

what the world (whoa whoa) needs now,
is love (is love) sweet love
what the world ( oh oh) needs now
is love (is love) sweet love
what the world (whoa whoa) needs now
is love (is love) sweet love

    Think of your fellow man
    Lend him a helping hand
Put a little love in your heart
    You see it’s getting late
    Oh, please don’t hesitate
Put a little love in your heart

And the world will be a better place
And the world will be a better place
    For you and me
    You just wait and see

    Another day goes by
    Still the children cry
Put a little love in your heart
If you want the world to know
    We won’t let hatred grow
Put a little love in your heart

And the world (and the world) will be a better place
All the world (all the world) will be a better place
    For you (for you)
    And me (and me)
    You just wait (just wait)
    And see, wait and see

    Take a good look around
    And if you’re looking down
Put a little love in your heart
    I hope when you decide
    Kindness will be your guide
Put a little love in your heart

And the world (and the world) will be a better place
And the world (and the world) will be a better place
    For you (for you)
    And me (and me)
    You just wait (just wait)
    And see

People, now put a little love in your heart
    Each and every day
Put a little love in your heart
    There’s no other way
Put a little love in your heart
    It’s up to you
Put a little love in your heart
    C’mon and

    FADE
Put a little love in your heart.

Just one more thing. I don’t know how true this is for anyone else, but in case someone needs to hear it, here I go. I had a bad childhood. I won’t go into details, just express that I never really felt completely loved. This affected how I felt about myself, and even when I got saved, I struggled with understanding and believing that God really loves me completely. My acceptance of his love was in spurts. I finally realized that my inner child was still hurting. I had to work on healing my inner child. I also realized that I will never completely accept that God loves me as long as I carry such negative thoughts about myself. I don’t hold grudges against those who have hurt me in my childhood or play the blame game. I forgave, first (with no apologies given to me), then decided that even though it’s not my fault that I was the way I was, that I would only focus on healing myself and work on getting past the pain. It does get better with time. Time does heal wounds, but it doesn’t get rid of scars, only erases them a little. I just imagine God as this loving parent that kisses my booboos. I know kissing them doesn’t get rid of them, but that little gesture is one of love, and that’s what matters-knowing that God loves me.

Let the love in??? Clearly, you’re not a fan of Grumpy Cat. =:-D
Love is a complicated thing. I love the friends I have, but then, when I think about it, how many of them reach out to me? Out of all of the “friends” I have, I may have less than 20 of them who actually make an effort to initiate any sort of communication with me; with everyone else, I have to make the effort every time to communicate with them, so I can only say that I love a few friends as I see them caring for me. With regards to my family, the situation is complex as I didn’t have the best childhood and I only got to go to Orlando to experience the theme parks for the first time when I was almost 30 years old. In the same way as with my friends, there are a couple of family members (and family friends) I love having in my life, at least.
    About romance… ew. =:-D
Love is in different forms, but it’s difficult to express all forms of love with all people (not simultaneously, of course, but rather in its appropriate contexts). I just try to love whoever whenever and I realise that although this may or may not be sufficient, it’s the best I can do right now. If people don’t like it, then I don’t care; I hate people anyway (That’s an inside joke I use by force of habit now. =:-D ).
