“Dear Mark Driscoll” (by nakedpastor David Hayward)

Actually, one of the members of our online community, Julie-Anne Morris posted this in our secret Facebook group. So with her permission I created this for your viewing pleasure!

I posted a different cartoon of this this morning, but I thought I would just use her quote on the image instead.

About David Hayward

David Hayward runs the blog nakedpastor as a graffiti artist on the walls of religion where he critiques religion… specifically Christianity and the church. He also runs the online community The Lasting Supper where people can help themselves discover, explore and live in spiritual freedom.

Here is the only explanation I have that sits ok with me:

Mary represented someone that could be deceived; whereas Joseph represented outright rebellion against God.

Therefore, when God engineered the genetics of Jesus, God bypassed the ‘genetics’ of outright rebellion, but did not desire to bypass the ‘genetics’ for the capacity to be deceived.

In this way, Jesus was born without the innate ‘sin of rebellion’ against God, yet Jesus could be tempted to remove Himself from God’s sonship via deception from Satan, or via His own choice.

Not the greatest of answers… but again, the answer that sits best with me at this time.

Much love in Christ always and unconditionally; Caryn

When we are in Adam(ie when we have an earthly father) we are in sin, it was therefore the only way for Jesus to born without sin…Nothing at all to do with weakness of woman but rather the headship of Adam.

Are you still suggesting women are weak? Sounds to me like the headship of Adam was weak if it has sin in it and God had to avoid it. Do you think Mark has it all wrong, men are weak, women are strong and he is unable to deal with that?

  • martin

I think you may be on drugs.

  • Al Cruise

    Are you from Mars Hill?

  • martin

    No…

    Are you from Mars?

  • Al Cruise

No. Do you know if Driscoll is from Mars? Is that how he came up with the name for his Church? Is your name really Martian and you dropped the “a” because people would laugh at you when introduced yourself?

  • martin

Are you really Tom Cruise as you believe in aliens?

How about a really old idea to counter the new one:

“I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Only Begotten, begotten of the Father before who ages…Who for us men and our salvation came down from Heaven and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became man…”
