Look what will happen when Jesus returns!

Looking through a glass lens darkly.

I remember this one guy who took videos and pictures of everything. It seemed to me that he lived his whole life through a lens, a pinhole, a narrowly constricted vision.

Have you ever experienced a visual moment and been tempted to take a picture and realized that as a result you would miss the moment?

Like in the wonderful film The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. If you’ve seen it, there’s a moment way up in the Himalayas where one can enjoy the rare moment or experience it through a lens.

We enjoy wonderful moments together at The Lasting Supper. You’re invited!

Love it! rofl…. so very much like our culture. We have become a nation of cell phone vid cams.

To experience Christianity with the lens of Matt 25, Parable of Sheep and Goats… or, to observe Christianity by ignoring the lens of the same Parable and creating a new one of worship teams, church work, job, church positions….. I sometimes wonder about myself as I grow older. I had time to use both ‘lenses’ when I was younger …. now, I find that I am pushed to make choices… I do not have the energy for the latter lens… and barely have the energy for the first lens.

Hugs! Brilliant cartoon… great insight! Caryn

The idea came to my mind of a cartoon of everybody watching a Jesus app on their smart phone but there is actually nothing going on in the background. :)

After all, pictures only show so much. They may say a thousand words, but never a full story.

Hahaha! My mom always tells me to not get too caught up in the picture taking experience :)

Been there. I used to take the good old 35mm SLR on ski trips. You are right. You can either be a participant or a recorder; but, you cannot be both at the same time. (And if you’re skiing, you can’t do that so well if you’re lugging a backpack of shit all over the mountain!)

Not only that, you may find yourself at the age of 60, with thousands of pictures, too many of which are in albums, that no one seems to have any interest in; and yet, you can’t bring yourself to throw out the “memories.”

The new “Point of View” video cameras (like the GoPro) are a bit of a game changer in that in some activities, you CAN be a participant and a recorder at the same time… Nice for YouTube…
