April New Moon Chalice Lighting

April New Moon Chalice Lighting April 18, 2015

shutterstock_64012228TS Eliot called April the cruelest month,

and amidst tax season and the wind and hailstorms which blow through,
then the pollen that robs some of us of our breath – it can certainly seem so.

(Lights chalice)

But those of us who have eyes to see,
can tell that April means the world is in love again,
from roadsides blanketed in bluebonnets
to trees that actually give shade and the honking
overhead of geese on their return migrations North.

This combination is a promise,
that no matter how cruel life may seem at times,
it will go on. Renewal is relentless. Our tragedies
may stop our hearts, but will not stop the world.

In this we may rely and take comfort.
