A Simple Prayer That Could Blow Your Week Up

A Simple Prayer That Could Blow Your Week Up October 19, 2015

“God, open my eyes to see you in me and all around me.” That short prayer could blow your week up in a good way. Do you have the courage to pray that? Would you pray it every day before you leave your house and see what God does?

In 2 Kings 6, catastrophe loomed for the prophet Elisha and his servant. The king of Aram had sent a hit squad to take out Elisha, and they were trapped:

15 When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” the servant asked.

16 “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”

17 And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. 2 Kings 6:15-17

Elisha simply asked God to open the eyes of his servant, and everything changed. The veil that separates the physical world from the spiritual world was lifted, and Elisha’s servant caught a glimpse of the heavenly hosts, come to make war against the Aramean army. All because Elisha asked. What does James say? You do not have because you do not ask God. James 4:2

So, ask God to reveal himself to you. Ask God for a close encounter. The worst thing he could do is say ‘no’, then you’d be no worse off than when you started. But if you are faithful to ask, not just once but to make it a mindset, I think you’d be surprised at just how much God wants to reveal himself to you.

Here’s a simple prayer you can pray:

“God open my eyes to see you in me and all around me.”

Pray this pray before you leave the house each morning, and see if God answers it.

QUESTION: How has God revealed himself to you when you’ve asked him?
