Quoting Quiverfull: Men Robbed?

QUOTING QUIVERFULL is a regular feature of NLQ – we present the actual words of noted Quiverfull leaders and ask our readers: What do you think? Agree? Disagree? This is the place to state your opinion. Please, let’s keep it respectful – but at the same time, we encourage readers to examine the ideas of Quiverfull honestly and thoughtfully.

Adam Gregorin on the blog “Modesty: The Forgotten Virtue” August 6, 2012

The entire population of American men is being robbed.  They’re being robbed of something that was meant to be wholesome, something that was meant to be theirs.

They’re being robbed from completely enjoying the oneness of the nakedness of marriage.

And we, as part of the modesty movement, are accessories to the robbery.

The poor babies. The poor, poor, babies.

Said by the guy who posted pics of underage girls in ‘normal’ clothes and examined them under his microscope for evidence of immodesty.

Say what??? Sorry, I just hallucinated.

I wish I could have brought the entire posting he made about how immodest women rob men but it was erased. His logic is quite frightening.

Well, he is right. The modesty doctrine is robbing men of their self-control. When men are repeatedly told that they can’t control themselves and that it’s a woman’s fault if he lusts, he is being robbed of his maturity and ability to control himself. Though not really robbed so much as self-abdicating when they buy into the modesty nonsense. Men are told and made to believe they aren’t capable of anything but lust and rape and that they are really only beasts who must be catered too or else when modesty puts the pressure on women to dress in a specific way and men are pressured into believing they are nothing but sexual beasts that csn be set off by even a strand of hair you don’t have adults but mindless animals.

Just looked. Most of his stuff is still in Google Cache and the Way Back Machine. I just don’t have time to wade through 7000+ posts to find the rest of this.

And this is exactly what is going on in India and other Asian and African countries today.

And who are they blaming for the atrocious robbery of their god-given right to completely own and control a body to use just as they please? I assume it is us. They really do hate women.

I know that there are men robbed of “enjoying the oneness of the nakedness of marriage.” Shall this phrase be reappropirated for the fight for gay marriage?

  • Rae

Wait, so if the “oneness and nakedness of marriage” is something that was “meant to be [men's]“, then what about men who are never married?

By that logic, aren’t they being robbed more, by not just being prevented from *completely* enjoying the oneness and nakedness that they’re talking about, but by being unable to enjoy it at all?

If you go down the rabbit hold of the logic in that sentence, you end up at a place where men are just not inherently deserving of marriage (in this case, synonymous with sex with a woman), but that anyone who denies marriage or a relationship that would otherwise lead to marriage is potentially the person who’s “robbing” him of this right. Which goes into the territory where if a woman says “no” to a man, it’s something wrong.

What an amazing sense of entitlement ! It wouldn’t even occur to him that women may choose to please themselves by wearing what makes them happy. What a dick!
