Quoting Quiverfull: Heterosexual Marriage Being Mocked? February 24, 2017

quotingquiverfullby Tim Bayly from Bayly Blog – The Church’s Witness on Sexuality: Too Cute by Half

Editor’s note: I had to read this word salad about ten times along with the unquoted bits to try and figure out Bayly’s point. It seems to be 1 – people making fun of his word salad are going to hell, even if his own writings seem to indicate that he has issues with his own masculinity, 2 – married hetero sex between his flavor of Christians is the only righteous sex, 3 – the church needs to demean anyone not lining up with his personal thoughts on sexuality.

Remember, the goal of my writing on sexualityΒ is not to demean women and promote male privilege. Every brash womanΒ and effeminate manΒ who hates Baylyblog never stops repeatingΒ these accusations, but they couldn’t be further from the truth. Manhood is not privilege,Β but its opposite: responsibility.Β As Christ died for His BrideΒ theΒ Church, so manΒ takesΒ up his own cross and diesΒ for the mother of his children, his lover, his bride.

The story of marriage is man dying so woman may give life and nurture it. Where that story is not told, marriage doesn’t exist. It’s not a private story for Christians. It’s the timeless, transcultural story of sex written by God in the very DNA of His universe. To preach and liveΒ this story is to preach and liveΒ the Gospel.

Among the perishing, this Gospel witness is the stench of death. This is why worldlings outside and inside the churchΒ never stop scorning, mocking, hissing,Β and shaming those who try to be faithful witnesses to God’s holy heterosexuality.

There can beΒ no middle ground on sexuality, although many of us are frantic…

to fashion one.

Sometimes we even have the bodacity(sic – not a proper word in Websters, but a slang combo of β€˜bodacious’ and β€˜tenacity’) to call our halfway-covenants β€œcontextualized Gospel witness,” but they’reΒ the very opposite. Gospel witnessesΒ die so others may live. Look at Jesus. Look at the Apostle Paul.

QUOTING QUIVERFULL is a regular feature of NLQ – we present the actual words of noted Quiverfull leaders, cultural enforcers and those that seek to keep women submitted to men and ask our readers: What do you think? Agree? Disagree? This is the place to state your opinion. Please, let’s keep it respectful – but at the same time, we encourage readers to examine the ideas of Quiverfull and Spiritual Abuse honestly and thoughtfully.
