Encouraging Your Husband – Part 3 Respect

Encouraging Your Husband – Part 3 Respect March 21, 2017

EncouragingThis is a series looking at the marriage advice given in Nancy Campbell’s book β€˜How to Encourage Your Husband’.

While packing for a move I have turned up are books, terrible idiotic books filled with toxic advice. One of those books is by Nancy Campbell of Above Rubies β€˜How to Encourage Your Husband’. I think I ended up with this book in the aftermath of leaving my old church, given to me by one of my former friends that thought it would β€˜help’ my marriage since in her eyes my husband leaving our old church meant that I wasn’t doing my job of wife well enough. Reading through this book now I cannot help but laugh at some of the suggestions. The book is entirely written by commenters and comments from Nancy Campbell’s website.

Each week we’re going to look at a new nugget of marriage advice given by one of Nancy’s sycophants. Discuss.

I respect you!

When my husband came to me and told me I never built him up, I thought, β€œThat’s impossible! I think those things all the time!” And I did; only I didn’t verbalize them. I decided to verbalize my thoughts, β€œI respect you so much for….” Or β€œGod must be so pleased with you for your obedience to….” Of course, there are the little, seemingly silly things, β€œYou are so strong!” Or, β€œYou can fix anything.” Watch him grin when you say those things.

Are men so emotionally weak that they must be constantly reminded of how much we respect them?
