Answering ‘Preparing To Be A Help Meet’ – Any Help Finding Time and Privacy For Bible Study? April 5, 2017

AnsweringAnother installment of giving better answers to the questions asked at Debi Pearl’s site message board for the book β€˜Preparing To Be A Help Meet’. Many young ladies ask questions on all sorts of different subjects brought up by the book. There was just one big problem, many of the answers stray into either the outright bad and emotionally unhealthy to dangerous. Yes, typical Debi Pearl borderline abusive. Here’s what we’re going to be doing here at NLQ. Every week, once or twice a week, I’ll be posting up one of the questions from the message board and ask you, our readers, to answer that poor soul’s question in a way that is logical, rational and the best possible solution, in other words 180 degree turn from Debi and friends answers. As alwaysΒ  all spelling and grammar in the posting is unchanged from the original author.

Any help finding time and privacy for Bible study?

I really have a difficult time sitting down and studying my Bible. Β I am in college (commuting from my parents’ home) and I am very, very busy! Also, it is extremely difficult to find privacy in my house (we have a big family), and I cannot seem to open my heart and mind to God’s Word when my surroundings are noisy or people are around me. Β In addition, I often feel obligated to be diligent to deal with school responsibilities (assignments, studying, etc.) and helping out with chores, housework, etc. before sitting down and devoting myself to Bible study, even though I know the knowledge I gain from school is not nearly as vital as knowledge from God’s Word. Β As we all know, there is practically no end to housework and there is always something to study more or another assignment to do in school. Β I’m sure everyone on this site also has very busy lives, and I was hoping you could share any tips or encouragement you have learned in your life as to either:

A. finding time and privacy to study

B. learning to put up with the distractions and noise and simply do the best with what I’ve got.

Β

I know that, Lord willing, when I’m married, I will probably encounter this same sort of issue. Β I’m trying to conquer this now so that, in addition to learning and studying the Bible now, I will also have the discipline to study in the future.

The only advice she was given was to really study the Bible in the car via CDs and to squeeze it in at bedtime. What would you advise?
