How to Encourage Your Husband – Part 4 Verbalize

How to Encourage Your Husband – Part 4 Verbalize May 6, 2017

EncouragingThis is a series looking at the marriage advice given in Nancy Campbell’s book β€˜How to Encourage Your Husband’.

While packing for a move I have turned up are books, terrible idiotic books filled with toxic advice. One of those books is by Nancy Campbell of Above Rubies β€˜How to Encourage Your Husband’. I think I ended up with this book in the aftermath of leaving my old church, given to me by one of my former friends that thought it would β€˜help’ my marriage since in her eyes my husband leaving our old church meant that I wasn’t doing my job of wife well enough. Reading through this book now I cannot help but laugh at some of the suggestions. The book is entirely written by commenters and comments from Nancy Campbell’s website.

Missed Calls

When my husband and I were first married, he told me that β€˜It’s the little things that count’ What little things could I do to make sure he felt appreciated, respected and treasured? At that time, I was blessed to have him home with me during the day as he was beginning a distance education program. He was only away a few hours in the evening while he went to a part-time job. I missed him so much even during those few hours that I would call his cell phone just in case I could catch him on a break. He could not hear my calls because of where he was working but his phone displayed another β€˜missed call’ from home. Checking his phone on the way home he would be thrilled to see how many times I had called. He knew I was thinking of him.

Soon our circumstances changed and he returned to fulltime work. When he first started his new job, he told me he’d put his phone on silent, but I could still call him while he was working. Throughout the day, as I go from task to task, I keep the phone tucked in my apron or on counter beside me. Every once in a while I give him a call just to let him know I care. My missed calls are little things that make his day!
