Sunday Shoutout Replies: What Does a Young Adult Need to Know/Study?

keepspeaking

Answers to last week's question -teaisbetterthanthis: Academics aside, kids need to learn how to communicate with others based on setting, their relationship to that person, context, and so on. And not just in the context of authority figure/subordinate or with people just like them. EVERYONE needs to know how to communicate with a boss, a coworker, a neighbor, a customer service representative, a customer, a good friend, an acquaintance, and a stranger, because those are all important but vastly different conversational partners. … [Read more...]

Sunday Shout Out: What Does a Young Adult Need to Know/Study?

shoutout

This week we posted a bit about what the Botkins Sisters, Anna Sophia and Elizabeth Botkin consider essential for every young woman to study. The Botkin family is currently signing up people to take their newest Webinar - Ready for Real Life. It's obviously not the 1850s or the 1950s now, like many Quiverfull leaders try to return us to so their strategies of life developed with old days in mind aren't going to be very effective in our times. How must we shift to make a seamless transition in today's world? … [Read more...]

Sunday Shout Out – Is it ‘Sinful’ to Take Time For Yourself?

shout

Nancy Campbell has stated in yesterday and today's Quoting Quiverfull that it's selfish to take time for yourself or to stop and pamper yourself as a mother and wife in any way. No going out for a blissful massage and pedicure, no going to the local gourmet coffee shop to drink coffee and read a book, no going off to something 'adult' like a book club. It's all sacrifice all the time in the perfect world of motherhood Nancy espouses. … [Read more...]

Commenting Policy

comments

by CaluluWe've never really spelled out any rules on people commenting on NLQ before but the majority of the posters have been respectful of each other, posted insightful words and even when disagreeing with the author or admin stuck to the issue instead of using it as an opportunity to bash any person. That's how it should be in a civilized society. Our two rules of commenting are -No personal attacks/name calling on authors or other commenters. Be respectful please. (Spelling this out out for the fundamentalist Christians that arrive a year or two late on the Duggar family postings and go ballistic. Don't do that!) We will not allow conspiracy theories or drama from other … [Read more...]
