News: Highest Divorce Rates?

denom_divorce

by Christine Wicker at Adherents.com - Dumbfounded by Divorce A study saying that born-again Christians divorce more often than non-Christians has raised eyebrows, sowed confusion, even brought on a little holy anger. So much, in fact, that the study's author, evangelical George Barna, put out a special letter to "our partners in ministry" trying to calm their fury and let his fellow believers know that he was standing by his stats no matter how distasteful they might be. … [Read more...]

GHC Retracts Invitation to HARO

ghc1

So that fund raiser that we posted last week to help Ryan Stollar and associates to go the Great Homeschool Conference to speak isn't needed now. Looks like in a typically chicken-crap fundamentalist/evangelical move they've withdrawn the invitation. If I were a betting woman I'd say this is more about protecting the message and the brand from anyone/thing that might cause those attending to actually think for themselves. Poorly done and cowardly. … [Read more...]

News: Bill Gothard’s Mea Culpa

gothard

A statement from Bill Gothard has gone up on his website in the last 24 hours in which he attempts to explain himself. I have withheld this statement in order to honor the request of the Board of Directors to wait until an initial review has taken place. As the review continues, I now want to make this statement.God has brought me to a place of greater brokenness than at any other time in my life. It is a grief to realize how my pride and insensitivity have affected so many people. I have asked the Lord to reveal the underlying causes and He is doing this. … [Read more...]
