‘Fire-Breathing’ Pastors Gather in California to Push Seething LGBT Hatred and Duggar ‘Family Values’

by Vyckie Garrison originally posted on Raw StoryThe “Red Hot Preaching” conference scheduled for this coming weekend in Sacramento will feature four of the most repugnant King-James-Only pastors who have more than just their relentless hatred of gays in common … they’re all Quiverfull. These preachers of patriarchy are Truly True Believers™ who embrace Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar-style “family values” … Christian homeschooling mega-families who reject all forms of birth control and are devoted to raising up a “quiver full” of children to serve as “arrows” in God’s holy war. … [Read more...]

What Are You Doing? Chapter 7 Girls Wanna Have Courtship NOW?

by Suzanne TitkemeyerThis chapter is supposed to be about 'Courting Delays' but it is more about tearing down other patriarchs ideas about courtships and shaming those Von considers old maids. At this point in the book "What are you Doing?" author Vaughn Ohlman is starting to slip. There's zero introduction as to who someone is and no indication where this is taking place. The ladies in this chapter could be holding this … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Paypal Antihomophobia Violates Right to be Homophobic?

by Steven Anderson of Faithful Word Baptist Church - Paypal is Not our PalEditor's note: Do you remember all the hateful screeds and attention that Pastor Steven Anderson was both issuing and getting over the nightclub shooting deaths of 49 innocent people in Orlando Florida? Anderson is having to learn the hard way that actions do have consequences and the consequence of all the horrible words he's spewed celebrating the deaths of people either gay or gay-friendly is that Paypal is no longer allowing him to use their services. He's not the only one having to face up to the reality of the horrible things they've said, his pal Pastor Jimenez is losing the lease on the building their … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Guns Are Godly?

by The Johnson Family from Johnson Family - The Ten Most Common Gun Control Soundbites RefutedEditor's note: In like of the many, many shootings happening around our country it's time to look at the reasons Quiverfull families think having guns is a good idea. Whoever wrote this didn't so much refute anything as trot out some good old Christian martyrbating, fear-mongering and a soupcon of untrue tropes about weapons. However you feel about gun control it seems rather scary and dangerous to allow people like these that already feel threatened to possess weapons. Imagine a Steven Anderson doing open carry. How long do you think it would take before he shot someone that … [Read more...]

Shackled Girl: Part 6 – Father and Son: the Blooper Reel

by PropinquaEditor’s note: Let’s take a break from the grim allegations in this case. While there is never anything funny about abuse itself, at times the accused Ciboro men manage to look both appalling and ridiculous. As they flail about, straining to prove what excellent Christian family men they are, feel free to chuckle between bouts of *facepalm* and *headdesk*. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Part 4 – ‘Tomato-Head Children’?

by Michael Pearl from No Greater Joy - Tomato-Head KidsEditor's note: And here's where things get a little weird and confusing, more weird and confusing than the lack of paragraph formatting at their website. Michael Pearl's name is on this article as the author but in the second paragraph it suddenly switches to Debi Pearl's perspective as she talks about something Michael observed and said about a boy. Also, does it strike anyone that the Pearl's usage of the informal 'kid' instead of 'child' seems designed as a lessening of that child, a put down? I used to think that adults that insisted that kids were young goats were old-fashioned, not I am not so sure they aren't right. … [Read more...]
