Quoting Quiverfull: Don’t Complain Ever Because God?

struggle

by Nancy Campbell of Above Rubies - You Are Destined For ThisIf you're even thinking about complaining about anything Nancy Campbell, Evangelical Cultural Enforcer, is poised above your head to hit you with a Biblical fly swatter and a reminder to shut up because it could be worse. Or maybe God had planned all this torment for you to 'refine' you or as a test. What type of all loving all knowing deity tortures people for no good reason? Because Bible! … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Dispel The Darkness Or Else?

light

by Nancy Campbell from Above Rubies - A Family of LightHas anyone else noticed that in Nancy Campbell's world you are told to trust God, yet told to do all these things to make sure evil or darkness isn't in your life? Wouldn't 100% trusting God mean that you could trust Him to over shine any darkness or devil supposedly in your life? Too many contradictory things in Nancy's world. Trust but do that voodoo you do to make sure it sticks..oh, Nancy, you are like a little kid hiding under the covers from the Boogieman sometimes. … [Read more...]

Open Thread: Raising Your Children?

poisoncake

Last night I encountered this list of how not to raise 'Godly' children on Facebook. It was actually on the wall of someone I know from a very mainstream church where that church does not teach this restrictive list or anything even remotely close to it, but she firmly believes it. She's involved with the local homeschool group in my area, which is run by a woman that should be in jail right now for parenting failures of an extreme magnitude that originated with the type of thinking  this list is opposed to. … [Read more...]

by Michael Pearl of No Greater Joy - Resume EnhancementThis is from a posting last year when the British government was holding hearings on if they should ban "To Train Up A Child" by Michael Pearl from the UK. Michael had been contacted by various BBC reporters and was saying how banning his book was going to enhance his resume and drive sales of the book into new record heights. Re-Post: Lies We Tell Ourselves About Abuse

seenoevil

by Melissa cross posted from her blog Permission To Live This post was originally published June 2011. One of the things that prompted my finally admitting my own denial, was realizing I did not want to parent the way I was parented.  I wanted to believe that how I grew up had not been harmful, I wanted so badly for my parents to be right, that I refused to think about it, refused to deal with it, and even repeated it. In the end, my desire to not hurt my kids was stronger than my desire for my parents to be right.  That is what snapped me out of the fog, and forced me to get help. … [Read more...]
