Quoting Quiverfull: Who Decides What is ‘Normal’?

define-normal1

by the Duggar girls in their book "Growing Up Duggar" page 114 This doesn't mean we're to ignore the fact that God has created us to have a natural physical desire toward men. When these feelings arise, we thank God of making us 'normal.' Withing a godly marriage, this kind of desire can be a wonderful blessing that bonds the husband and wife together in the way God intended. But during our single years, this physical attract, if not carefully controlled, can also be one of the biggest sources of temptation and struggles. What is the definition of 'normal' in that paragraph? Is it coded language for 'not a lesbian'? … [Read more...]

News: “Duck Dynasty” Bible is an Actual Thing?

duckdynasty

Why?From Vicativ -"Duck Dynasty" Bible Joins Long Tradition of Stupid Theme Biblis The Robertson clan continues to expand their $400 million empire of duck calls, sweet tea glasses, and other Duck Dynasty-themed goods, so it’s only natural that they’ve added the word of God to the mix. Earlier this week, Duck Commander Phil Robertson and his eldest son, Alan, announced the release of their latest book, The Duck Commander Faith and Family Bible, which will hit retail stores in October just in time for Christmas. The Robertson’s version will feature a King James Translation in addition to 30 testimonials and 125 inspirational quotes from Phil, the family patriarch, and Alan, a pastor. Acco … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Christians Versus “The Sodomites”

Gayagenda

by Jeramy Anderson from Persevero News - Sodomy: A Cycle of Collapse(Editor's note: While Jeramy doesn't define exactly what he considers a 'sodomite' it seems like he might be talking about the LBGT community, but he could be speaking about any group that doesn't necessarily subscribe to his worldview.) A good comparison would be that of a Homeschool family. Not all are Christian, but many of them are believers. It only makes sense, for the very reason parents Homeschool is because they do not want their children to be engulfed by a false worldview. Furthermore, as they align themselves with Scripture, they rejoice in children, desire to be good stewards by saving instead of wasting … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Who’s Judging and Intolerant of Who Here?

biblehurt

by Colin Campbell from Meat For Men -True Sons of God Do Not Tolerate What God Does Not Tolerate! The Cake Bakker (sic) in Colorado who is being forced by the powers that be to make a wedding cake for a gay marriage, which is against his convictions, is sickening to say the least. Although I understand, at this time, that the law in Colorado cannot force him, they will try to make him look an like evil and intolerant man. I pray he will stand strong in his convictions. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Christian Bakers Are Modern Day Holocaust Jews?

Nazi Cake

From Raw Story - Tony Perkins: Christians forced to bake cakes for gays like forcing  Jews into Nazi ovensTony doesn't seem to realize the moment you invoke Nazis, Hitler, the Holocaust or the Third Reich you've invalided your own argument by your hyperbole. Perkins reached for a more recent historical analogy to compare the state’s actions to Nazi Germany. … [Read more...]

Farris: Patriarchy Makes Kids Gay and Atheists

michaelfarris

by Libby Anne cross posted from her blog Love, Joy, FeminismIf you read my blog, you’re probably aware of the Christian homeschooling subculture’s patriarchy problem. A variety of prominent Christian homeschool leaders have been promoting patriarchal family structures at homeschool conventions and in homeschool publications for well over a decade, and two of those leaders—Bill Gothard and Doug Phillips—have recently fallen, engulfed in scandal. Michael Farris, another prominent Christian homeschool leader, has since come out criticizing these leaders and the “patriarchy” they taught. Now Farris has openly criticized “patriarchy” as part of a keynote address while keynoting at a homeschool … [Read more...]

In Which Doug Wilson Splits Hairs and Fails at Logic

splittinghairs

by Libby Anne cross posted from her blog Love, Joy, FeminismI didn’t get into it when I touched on Wilson’s “Gaylag Archipelago” comment last week, but Wilson’s most recent post on what should be done about gay and lesbian individuals, in which he quotes from an earlier post of his own, sheds light on both the increasingly uncomfortable word dicing of those defending Leviticus and the utter lack of understanding these individuals have of their opponents. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Neronic or Neurotic?

nero

Kevin Swanson from Generations With Vision Ministries in Right Wing Watch - Kevin Swanson Warns "This Whole Lesbian Whatever Has Turned People Into 'Feces Eaters' "On Monday, “Generations Radio” host Kevin Swanson warned that “this whole lesbian whatever, the Neronic agenda” — the term he regularly uses to describe the LGBT rights movement — has helped plunged society into “dysfunctionality” and turned people into “feces eaters.” “There’s not just divorce: people are eating their own feces, there’s incest everywhere,” Swanson lamented. He said that only churches like his can draw the feces-eaters back to God: “There’s a contrast between the feces-eaters and the church and I think the fe … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Satan Did It?

abortionslutshaming

Don't know if anyone here has been following the saga of Flip Benham's sons and HGTV. You remember Flip, he is the head of Operation Rescue/Operation Save America and one of the big early players in the Right to Life movement.Flip organizes folks to carry signs, protest at any clinic that might offer abortion services and Planned Parenthood clinics. They block entrances, parking lots and try to harass anyone working at the clinic or visiting for any reason. Which is sad because there are lots of legitimate reasons to visit those clinics that have nothing to do with getting an abortion. … [Read more...]
