Quoting Quiverfull: Is Homemade Porn Between Married Partners Okay?

Quotes1-300x250 (2)

by Doug Wilson from his blog Blog & Mablog - Home Made Porn And last, I want to address the pornification of modern life — and assume in the thought experiment that “secure means” really is possible. If it were possible to guard against voyeurism with the same degree of security that your bedroom lock and curtains provide, would it be lawful then? I don’t think it is possible, but what if it were? I would want to answer the same way I did in the second category above. It is wise to be wary. … [Read more...]

Laughter is Good Medicine: Connecting the President to the Religious Right

Typical responses as to why ACA is wrong. Cartoon by Mad magazine contributor Monte Wolverton

Another posting on playing the 5 Degrees game, sometimes known as the Kevin Bacon game, that links two very different people, places or things within 5 steps.Because of the government shutdown that is affecting many people throughout the country today's linkage is between President Barack Obama and the Religious Right, two very close to opposite positions. The pictures I'm using to illustrate my point are supposed to be parody, most used from recent Mad magazine postings on Facebook. Covering Up the Body Before Puberty

modest

by Lana Hope cross posted from her blog Wide Open GroundI recent post by Aletha really stood out to me. This is where she talks about where the pain of modesty began. I started developing breasts when I was 8.  The first time I ever thought about them was in kid’s Sunday School.  I had been wearing a dress that I loved. It had flowers, and a petticoat, and lace.  It was also a year old, so it was a bit tight, and a bit short.  But it was my favourite.  It was, apparently, also a bit low cut.  I don’t know how much cleavage I was showing, but a Primary teacher took me aside and told me that my dress was immodest, and I should cover myself better next time. I didn’t want to cause problems … [Read more...]

CTBHHM: Women Can Be Effective Leaders – So What?

created

by Libby Anne cross posted from her blog Love Joy FeminismCreated To Be His Help Meet, pp. 119-121Some of you have noted that Debi’s getting a bit repetitive. In future posts I’m going to try to move more quickly through parts where Debi’s simply restating what she’s already said. In this section, though, Debi says something I don’t think she’s said before. God expresses a clear and sure mandate when he tells us: “But I suffer not [do not allow] a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, [that includes your pastor] but to be in silence.” (I Timothy 2:12).I call your attention back to the argument in a letter we read in chapter 5. [I reviewed that section in this post … [Read more...]
