Answering “Preparing To Be A Help Meet” – Young Man Witnessing to Young Lady

Another installment of giving better answers to the questions asked at Debi Pearl’s site message board for the book ‘Preparing To Be A Help Meet’. Many young ladies ask questions on all sorts of different subjects brought up by the book. There was just one big problem, many of the answers stray into either the outright bad and emotionally unhealthy to dangerous. Yes, typical Debi Pearl borderline abusive. Here’s what we’re going to be doing here at NLQ. Every week, once or twice a week, I’ll be posting up one of the questions from the message board and ask you, our readers, to answer that poor soul’s question in a way that is logical, rational and the best possible solution, in other words 18 … [Read more...]

News – Calvary Temple Church Spiritual Warfare

Was asked to post this to get the word out about Calvary Chapel in Sterling, Virginia. This isn't too far from where I live and my poisonous old church had a few of the walk aways from Calvary Temple. In this area of Northern Virginia there have been whispers of dangerous wrong doing for many years.  Calvary has been in the Washington D.C. news a lot lately over allegations of abuse, both sexual and physical, not to mention the many years of rumors here in Virginia over the spiritual abuse endemic at Calvary. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Throwing Shade on Korea, ISIS and Abortion Because Jesus?

by Colin Campbell from Meat For Men - Mourning Over What Grieves ChristEditor's note: Colin is in rare form in this post. He manages to order others to mourn for things, claims to know what makes Jesus mourn and manages to be racist, paranoid anti-government and blaming of others in four short paragraphs. That takes talent! (/sarcasm). Seriously, there a whole lot of judging, blaming and shaming in his words. Is it really necessary to say those things to ask others to do more intercessory prayer? … [Read more...]

Boiling The Frog – When Churches Turn Into Dangerous Cults

by Suzanne Titkemeyer cross posted from her blog What Would Roger Sterling Do?I'm going to ask you to stop and read this first before proceeding onto my story of how weird the church and I got towards the end - The Seven Signs You're in a Cult in The Atlantic MagazineGot it? Yep.What happened was sort of like that old beloved in Christianity false story about putting the frog in a big pot of water and the frog not realizing till it was too late that he was being boiled alive. Our church turning into a cult happened a lot like that. … [Read more...]

News: Jana Duggar Leaves ’19 Kids & Counting’ For Real Life

If this is factual then - Run, Jana RUN!First, let me say I do not know for certain if this is real news or manufactured Duggar drama merely meant to drive eyeballs to the television show. It's popping up only in places such as Ok! Magazine, various television reality blogs and some internet news sources not well known for their veracity, such as the Examiner and Radar Online. It's also one of those articles that quotes an anonymous Duggar insider. Some of those 'insider' articles have turned out not to be true. … [Read more...]

A Cult Within a Cult

by Suzanne Titkemeyer cross posted from her blog What Would Roger Sterling Do? originally published December 17, 2014 I was going to talk about my scintillating and thrilling day yesterday gravitating between lying on the sofa, the kitchen to shove batches of Christmas cookies in and out of the oven for Jim's office party, loading unloading folding ironing laundry between more bouts laying down on the sofa because of the flu but then I ran into a posting on Facebook that make me take a look at something I'd been heavily involved with over at the Creek Church - Gwen Shamblin and her Weigh Down Workshop. It must have been around 1997 or so when one of the older ladies at Creek Church started … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: He is ‘The King’ and You MUST Serve Him in All Things?

Quoting Quiverfull: Treating ‘Disrespect’ With More ‘Disrespect’ Is Biblical?

by Mary Sunshine and her commenters at her blog Sunshine Mary and the Dragon - Nip Disrespect in the Bud Before it Blooms into the Flower of RebellionCame across this blog on Facebook on one of the NLQ affiliate sites. Struck by how disrespectfully rude some of the ideas for dealing with disrespect from wifes are. Any man that pulls this crap needs to spend a few nights without 'marital affections' sleeping on the sofa. Respect in marriage is a two way street no matter if you believe in God or the Flying Spaghetti Monster or nothing. You cannot get respect from your spouse by disrespecting them back. Life doesn't work that way no matter what the CPM & QF people think. … [Read more...]
