Quoting Quiverfull: Having A C-Section Makes You Bitter?

quotingquiverfull

by Zsuzsanna Anderson, wife of Steven L. Anderson from Are They All Yours? - Birth HypocrisyEditor's note: Zsuzsanna is upset today because people are talking and speculating over the birth of Jill Duggar Dillard's new baby boy Israel, trying to parse what that lone photo of the new family means. If she had a c-section, why it was a hospital birth instead of a home birth, ad infinitum... which is only natural considering every single aspect of this poor girl's life has been lived more years than not in the white hot glare of the television camera. Zsuzsanna fails to understand that when the average American sees someone over and over on television they become emotionally invested in … [Read more...]

CindyKunsman

by Cindy Kunsman cross posted from her blog Under Much (more) GraceEditor's note: While this isn't a traditional NLQ SASBN member posting it bears posting here, if for no other reason than forewarned is forearmed. Even when you leave a harmful theology group the pressure to return and confirm will still be strong. You need to know their tricks. Want to see all these in action so you know what they look like? Try watching the recent HBO documentary on Scientology "Going Clear" … [Read more...]

Zero Tolerance: Manly Temper or Ungodly Outburst

Screen shot from Christian Post

by S.J. Reidhead cross posted from her blog The Pink Flamingo The Anger Buster Rap by Barbara Gruener When anger chooses me, here’s an important fact: I always get to choose exactly how I’ll react. I don’t need to fight or shout, pout and cry; I have some healthy strategies for management I try. I write or draw or count to ten, I talk it out or go outside to play. I take deep breaths or exercise until my anger goes away. So when anger chooses you, and it will, that’s a fact! Why not try my healthy ways to help you react. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Part 1 – Stand By Your Man When He Becomes Obsessed?

quotingquiverfull

by Shalom Pearl Brand from No Greater Joy - Preparing for His ObsessionEditor's note: Remember when Debi Pearl confused hobbies and interests with obsessions? Her daughter Shalom is carrying on in the same vein of misunderstanding and reenforcing Debi's message of supporting your man's hobbies and not having any of your own. … [Read more...]

Boiling The Frog – When Churches Turn Into Dangerous Cults

Image from Amazon - This is a book we studied during the oddest part of my church years.

by Suzanne Titkemeyer cross posted from her blog What Would Roger Sterling Do?I'm going to ask you to stop and read this first before proceeding onto my story of how weird the church and I got towards the end - The Seven Signs You're in a Cult in The Atlantic MagazineGot it? Yep.What happened was sort of like that old beloved in Christianity false story about putting the frog in a big pot of water and the frog not realizing till it was too late that he was being boiled alive. Answering ‘Preparing To Be A Help Meet’ – Can Guys View Attractive Girls As Just Friends?

Answering

Another installment of giving better answers to the questions asked at Debi Pearl’s site message board for the book ‘Preparing To Be A Help Meet’. Many young ladies ask questions on all sorts of different subjects brought up by the book. There was just one big problem, many of the answers stray into either the outright bad and emotionally unhealthy to dangerous. Yes, typical Debi Pearl borderline abusive. Here’s what we’re going to be doing here at NLQ. Every week, once or twice a week, I’ll be posting up one of the questions from the message board and ask you, our readers, to answer that poor soul’s question in a way that is logical, rational and the best possible solution, in other words 18 … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: God Hates R Rated Movies?

quotingquiverfull

by Kristen Clark from Girl Defined - Why Watching People Make Out Should Be AwkwardEditor's note: One thing you can count on from the Quiverfull/CPM/Fundamentalist movement is that they will keep moving the bar, changing the rules, until everything except reading your Bible and praying is 'sinful' This piece basically says if you are not uncomfortable watching a movie scene of people deeply kissing, much less having sex, then there is something 'wrong' with you in your spiritual life. Yeah, keep moving that line and telling yourself you are hole-y, err, holy. It really is all about sex in that world. Seems like the author is coming very close to calling passionate kissing pornography. … [Read more...]

Not Quoting Quiverfull: Unbreakable Kimmy Schmitt

Notquoting

NLQ SASBN member Boze Herrington has written a review of the new Netflix show "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmitt" for The Guardian newspaper. If you've not seen this new television show you might want to watch a few episodes. It's a comedy and yes, it is somewhat silly at times, but the draw for anyone in the former Quiverfull movement is that the show tackles the difficult issue of what it is like when you leave a cult and your entire frame of reference on life is what you learned within the cult. It manages to capture that perfect awkwardness in readjusting or adjusting for the first time to the outside world. … [Read more...]

News: Jana Duggar Leaves ’19 Kids & Counting’ For Real Life

news

If this is factual then - Run, Jana RUN!First, let me say I do not know for certain if this is real news or manufactured Duggar drama merely meant to drive eyeballs to the television show. It's popping up only in places such as Ok! Magazine, various television reality blogs and some internet news sources not well known for their veracity, such as the Examiner and Radar Online. It's also one of those articles that quotes an anonymous Duggar insider. Some of those 'insider' articles have turned out not to be true. … [Read more...]
