Quoting Quiverfull: How to Attract a Righteous Guy’s Attention?

naggyman

by The Author (guest post) at Integrity of the Home: Quirks of the Fairer Sex Which Ought Not be So I could be wrong, but I think an idea prevalent in so-called "reformed" circles among you young ladies is this: guys don't notice you all, so you have to look "cute" or act a certain way to get attention. Maybe you'll be at church, or perhaps a nice conference, but you'll stand there and observe (out of the corner of your eye, of course) all us guys bumble around like blind fellows, consumed with our football or movies, never noticing you in all your reformed, youthful splendor. … [Read more...]

The Devil’s Theology: Seven Lies From Hell

devil

by Boze Herrington cross posted from his blog The Talking Llama The pastor begins Bible study with a short prayer and immediately dives into his notes. I can sense the eagerness in his voice. The Lord is really going to speak to us through this message, he says. “When I started writing out what I wanted to say, it was like the Spirit just downloaded the information into my brain. I was the one holding the pen, but God was the one writing.” … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Branded a “Destroyer”?

Quotes1-300x250 (2)

by Peter Bradrick from his Facebook The past decade of my life has been defined by my close relationship with my mentor and former spiritual father. Those who know me recognize my longstanding, fierce commitment to his family, his work, and his legacy. As soon as I caught wind of what was going on, I became very involved in working towards fulfilling the duties of friendship and brotherhood – to confront a man who has been like a father to me for a third of my life and plead with him to truthfully confess, and to genuinely take responsibility for longstanding betrayal of everything we had fought together for with the hope of ultimate restoration. … [Read more...]

Quivering Questions Vaughn Ohlman Questions 6 -10

by Vaughn Ohlman cross posted from True Love Doesn't Wait Well, Suzanne Callulu has asked me another set of questions. This time they won’t work to go all in one prose segment, so I have included the questions in the text: 6.What do you think of Christians in Politics? Romans 13:1-7 Let every soul be in subjection to the higher powers: for there is no power but of God; and the powers that be are ordained of God. Therefore he that resisteth the power, withstandeth the ordinance of God: and they that withstand shall … [Read more...]

Fascinating Womanhood Review: Pandora’s Box

fascinating

by Samantha cross posted from her blog Defeating The Dragons  I’m going to be honest: I have no idea what to do with this chapter. None. So, for today’s post, I’m going to quote a some larger portions, in their entirety, add some of my concerns, and see what you all think of what she says.  In a Pandora’s Box reaction, instead of the man responding with love and tenderness, he becomes angry and pours out hostile feelings toward his wife. Why does he do this? … [Read more...]

vision-forum-sinks

by Calulu cross posted from her blog True Love Doesn't Rape ...And so things get a bit more grim for the Phillips. There's been no official word on the closing of the incorporated for profit side of Vision Forum closing after Doug Phillips stepped down after admitting his affair and the closing of the ministry side of Vision Forum, but it looks like that is indeed what is happening. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Feminism Killed the Family?

Quotes1-300x250

by Phyllis Schlafly from WND and Ladies Against Feminism - Who killed the American Family? A combination of forces abolished the American family as we knew it. The many factors include changes in the law such as unilateral divorce, court decisions especially abuses by the family courts, the culture, curricula and customs from elementary grades through college, taxpayer financial incentives for illegitimacy, and pronouncements of self-appointed experts who think they know how to manage … [Read more...]

Seven Signs of Spiritual Abuse

jonestown

by Boze Herrington cross posted from his blog The Talking Llama (Please welcome Boze to NLQ and the Spiritual Abuse Survivor Blogs Network! He's an awesome addition!) For about five years during and after college I was trapped in a dangerous Charismatic religious community. Living in a spiritually abusive environment is like a nightmare that you can’t wake out of. It can be hard to tell right from wrong, left from right. The people you trust the most could betray you at … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: “To Train Up A Child” Harmful?

TTUAC

by Michael Pearl from No Greater Love "The alleged presence of the book makes it no more responsible for Hanna’s death than the presence of a weight loss book in the home of an overweight person is responsible for their obesity." Posted by CNN on their front page yesterday. "To Train Up a Child" linked to deaths … [Read more...]

Love Misapplied: A Response to Chris Jeub

lovesand

by Libby Anne cross posted from her blog Love Joy Feminism and Homeschoolers Anonymous I grew up hearing about Chris Jeub. He was a big name in NCFCA homeschool debate circles, and while I never met him I did use the evidence briefs he put out. The Jeubs had 16 kids and were deep into the patriarchal and controlling ideas at the heart of the most conservative strains of the Christian homeschooling movement. In fact, they kicked their daughter Alicia out of the family and shunned her completely when she became “rebellious.” However, Chris says that he and his family have since left that whole legalistic mess. … [Read more...]
