Mothers Day Open Thread: Do You Have Regrets or Wisdom to Impart?

by Suzanne TitkemeyerAnother Mother's Day is almost upon us again and I have questions of all the readers here that left the Evangelical Quiverfull Movement. Do you regret having or trying to have a large number of children? What would you do differently if you did it over? What did you learn? What would you like others to know?Mother's Day can be one of the hardest days of the year for those in or out of the church because of society's insistence that motherhood be presented in a sentimental perfect light, even if you aren't Quiverfull. It's hard to stuff down negative feelings and experiences on a Hallmark manufactured holiday and pretend to a happiness you may not feel. If you are … [Read more...]

News: Duggar Fake Ministry Moment For Cameras

Radar Online has a very odd bit of Duggar news today, photos and text talking about how the Duggars clearly faked an outreach to the poor moment that was filmed for an upcoming TLC show "19 Kids & Counting" show. If this is true then it's truly despicable! Posting the worst bits below but read the original article at Radar Online - Duggar Reality TV Fakery! Christian Clan Stages Charity Scene For Cameras - Gives Food To Needy Family, Then Takes It Back! … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: The World Hates Babies?

by Kelly Crawford from Generation Cedar - How The World's Hatred of Babies May Affect You More Than Anything ElseEditor's note: Is it ever a good idea to have a baby just because some naysayers are claiming that the world might be negatively impacted if we have less citizens? … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Embracing Your Womb & Breasts?

by Nancy Campbell of Above Rubies - The Blessing of Your WombEditor's note:  I believe that Nancy sometimes recycles posts from years before. I swear I have seen this word for word last year. Plus she doubles down on her ridiculous assertion that 'Woman' comes from 'Womb Man' - which is not true. I'm guessing she's all about blaming any woman who's womb doesn't work right.  Yeah, yeah, we get it Nancy, we should worship our wombs because without them we couldn't fulfill your own personal mandate of growing enough babies to field our own personal sports team. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Part 2 Listening To Your Wife?

by Michael Pearl from No Greater Joy - I Need Her Counsel and JudgementEditor's note: This is almost enough to make you feel sorry for Michael's wife Debi Pearl, but knowing how Debi twists what happened to her and uses it to make others feel fear and guilt cancels out any sympathy points she might get for her husband admitting what an abusive jerk he has been. Sick relationship. His advice in the end might be good except for his suggestion to pretend to be humble and thoughtful. Pretend? … [Read more...]

News: Jill and Derick Dillard Welcome Baby Israel

Announced this morning on a couple different sources that Jill Duggar Dillard gave birth to the long awaited Baby Dilly, officially named 'Israel' Monday night. In a hospital. For all that talk of home births Jill ended up giving birth in a hospital after all. Curious to hear all the details but so far there are very few. Quoting Quiverfull: No Divorce For Christians Ever Because It Causes God’s Judgment?

by Colin Campbell from Meat For Men - Beautiful Attitude ContinuedEditor's note: Colin seems to think that every single thing that doesn't line up with his personal interpretation of the Bible is going to cause God to thrash and trash the earth and all it's inhabitants rather soon. Somehow I get the feeling that he really wants that final judgment to happen as soon as possible. There is so much in the world of Quiverfull theology that wants others judged and throws shade on anything or anyone not part of the select group. What a way to live! … [Read more...]

News: Jana Duggar Leaves ’19 Kids & Counting’ For Real Life

If this is factual then - Run, Jana RUN!First, let me say I do not know for certain if this is real news or manufactured Duggar drama merely meant to drive eyeballs to the television show. It's popping up only in places such as Ok! Magazine, various television reality blogs and some internet news sources not well known for their veracity, such as the Examiner and Radar Online. It's also one of those articles that quotes an anonymous Duggar insider. Some of those 'insider' articles have turned out not to be true. … [Read more...]

Oh Daughters of Fundamentalism, Take Upon Yourselves the Cloak of Self-Deception

by Sarah Henderson cross posted from her blog Feminist in Spite of Them I recently witnessed a young girl who is struggling a bit who expressed that she was a bit unhappy with her life, being told that she just needs to take it one day at a time, and be happy with it. To me it is shameful to express to a child or a teenager that their discomfort or unhappiness with a difficult situation stems from their own inability to cope. What message is being given to girls when they are told that although they are not the creators of the bad situation, they must be the authors of the solution, but the solution must only be to swallow their feelings and smile. … [Read more...]
