News: Jana Duggar Leaves ’19 Kids & Counting’ For Real Life

If this is factual then - Run, Jana RUN!First, let me say I do not know for certain if this is real news or manufactured Duggar drama merely meant to drive eyeballs to the television show. It's popping up only in places such as Ok! Magazine, various television reality blogs and some internet news sources not well known for their veracity, such as the Examiner and Radar Online. It's also one of those articles that quotes an anonymous Duggar insider. Some of those 'insider' articles have turned out not to be true. … [Read more...]

Oh Daughters of Fundamentalism, Take Upon Yourselves the Cloak of Self-Deception

by Sarah Henderson cross posted from her blog Feminist in Spite of Them I recently witnessed a young girl who is struggling a bit who expressed that she was a bit unhappy with her life, being told that she just needs to take it one day at a time, and be happy with it. To me it is shameful to express to a child or a teenager that their discomfort or unhappiness with a difficult situation stems from their own inability to cope. What message is being given to girls when they are told that although they are not the creators of the bad situation, they must be the authors of the solution, but the solution must only be to swallow their feelings and smile. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Pleading With Your Children Over Their Sin

by Tim Challies from Challies.Com - Help! My Kids Are Looking At Porn!Editor's note: While there is some good advice in this article, such as not heaping your child with shame after you find them looking at internet porn, there's also some pretty less than perfect responses too. In the Evangelical Quiverfull world where everything is hypersexualized it's considered a sin to have normal childhood curiosity. So the parents go right into over reaction mode. Is this healthy? There are much better ways to handle catching your child looking at porn than most of this.  … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: The Sexiest Thing You Can Say To Your Man?

by Doug Johnson from Life Site - The sexiest thing my wife ever said to me...definitely isn't what you think it isEditor's note: This guy has a warped sense of what sexy is. I don't know too many people that would define it the same way and definitely not many men outside of Christian Patriarchy and Quiverfull. Jaw drop. He thinks the sexiest thing his wife said to him was that she'd changed her mind about birth control and wanted her IUD out immediately so they could have more children. There is much in the article that is cringe-inducing, but this might just bet the worst part.... … [Read more...]

Introduction – ‘Be Fruitful and Multiply’ Review

NLQ Book Review of Nancy Campbell’s “Be Fruitful & Multiply” by Suzanne TitkemeyerNow Nancy starts trying to explain the main focus of her book - that God wants everyone to marry and have enough children to qualify for the the hit list of the zero population growth organization. Here are the three things that Nancy says are the traditional reasons to marry as laid out by wedding vows ... Firstly, it was ordained for the increase of mankind, according to the will of God and that children might be brought up in the fear and nurture of the Lord and to the praise of His holy name.Secondly, it was ordained in order that the natural instinct and affections, implanted by God, should … [Read more...]

Foreword – ‘Be Fruitful & Multiply’ Review

NLQ Book Review of Nancy Campbell's "Be Fruitful & Multiply" by Suzanne TitkemeyerOriginally I was not going to do a chapter of my review on the foreword. But then I took a look at who actually wrote the foreword,  one Doug Phillips of Vision Forum. Vision Forum, that huge Evangelical Christian Quiverfull ministry devoted to making sure women were treated like inferior second class citizens in the kingdom of God, only fit to be walking uterii that could cook, work a vacuum cleaner and homeschool a huge passel of children birthed through quiverfull practices. No minds,no independent thought, no free agency, no freedoms. Only constant service to the Lord (her husband and/or father). … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Threats, Martyrbating and Hating the Feds

by Steven L. Anderson of Faithful Word Baptist Church from his blog Steven L. Anderson.Editor's note: Checking on on Anderson this morning, the same pastor Anderson that called for the death of all gay people by Christmas to rid the country of AIDS, I found three different noteworthy things to share. Decided to put them in one long Quoting Quiverfull instead of individual ones. What makes all of this so note worthy is that it speaks to the Quiverfull Fundamentalist IFB mind set of 'Us Against THE WORLD!' Some martyrbating and some anger when treated like Evangelicals like to treat gay people. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: The Pill Was a Conspiracy Against the Poor by the Rich?

Found on Ladies Against Feminism by Jennifer Roback Morse at Mercator.Net - The Ambiguous Legacy of the PillStrangest theory on why the birth control pill was invented. More of the devil is under every bush theory. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: God Doesn’t Look For The Most Able?

by Adeye Salem from No Greater Joy Mom - Embryo Adoption FAQThe new clinic (Snowflake (tm) where Adeye plans to have all of those frozen embryos implanted at is apparently also enabling the Salems to promote themselves to everyone as the go-to answer folks for questions. Or else they're allowing the Salems to prance and preen for attention via these videos. I cannot figure out which one it is, a 'Look at me!!!!' or a genuine attempt to 'help' others. What do you think? Some digging on the interwebs turned up this interesting article from 11 years ago about Snowflake adoption - The problem with 'embryo adoption' … [Read more...]

Duggar Drama: Fighting For a Place in the Front Row?

Remember last week's Duggar Dramaz of Jill and Jessa no longer following each other on social media? Apparently that extends also their their respective spouses, Derick Dillard and Ben Seewald too. They do not follow each other. But... why should they follow each other? While this isn't like earth shaking horrible news in the real world, it's not like some poor defenseless kid getting shot by a cop or the fact that the CIA mislead all of us on their torture program, it's apparently passing as 'news'. Which is pretty funny considering there are always going to be people in your own family, or the family of your in-laws that you don't particularly like and wouldn't follow on social media. … [Read more...]
