Quoting Quiverfull: Asking to Have Physical Needs Met Dishonors Husband?

Children's bedroom or Army barracks?

by Susanna from her blog The Blessing of Verity - This world is not my home, I'm just-a-passin' thru..  Question:  Could you share your best tips for being content with your large family in such a small space?  I have to confess I’m not always content in our house.Answer:  Thanks for asking this excellent question!I want to be honoring to my husband, and it’s very hard for a good man when he feels like he isn’t able to provide what his woman really wants.  I don’t want to be like the petulant and demanding fisherman’s wife in the children’s story, who keeps sending her miserable husband back to the magic fish to wish for more and more and more, instead of being content with enough. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Respect Your Husband Above All Else?

i respect my husband

from the blog The Respected Husband - Marriage Instructions: Roles and Responsibilities Before we move on to the responsibilities of the husband, I want to end this section by sharing a statement from David Platt, “Your respect for your husband is not based on his performance but is based on God’s call and command in your life as his wife. Revere Christ through submission to your husbands. Respect them. Honor them. Build them up. That’s God’s responsibility for wives. … [Read more...]

Me, My Period and Jesus

mikvah

by Samantha Field cross posted from Defeating The DragonsWe’re not under The Law anymore. It’s the typical Christian go-to explanation for why modern believers usually don’t attempt to follow all the prohibitions laid out in the Torah. We’re in the Church Age now, which means were Under Grace, which means those rules don’t really apply to us anymore. We can eat all the bacon we want. Of course, since I grew up in fundamentalism, I occasionally ran into families and churches that did actually try to do their best to follow “The Law,” although the way they applied it was a little silly. No eating pork or crab, but they were fine using the same bowls for cereal and stew. However, even … [Read more...]

CTBHHM: “Sexual Perversions”

created

by Libby Anne cross posted from her blog Love, Joy, FeminismCreated To Be His Help Meet, p. 174This brief section—only one page—is titled “Exceptions: Sexual Perversions.” This is the very end of Debi’s chapter on loving your husband (which is, of course, all about sex), and it’s what you’ve all been waiting for. Let’s take a look. Anal sex is a homosexual act, and no normal man or woman desires this. The use of pornography has increased this abomination. It is a filthy practice and medically dangerous. Oh, well, that didn’t take long. … [Read more...]
