Quoting Quiverfull: Protecting Daughters Most of All?

daughter

by Jonathan Lindvall from the Yahoo Bold Christian Living Group Several generations ago, a father's responsibility (and right) to protect his wife and daughters was generally assumed and acknowledged in our legal system. It would have been unthinkable for a woman to be compelled to participate in legal proceedings, without her father's (or in the case of a married woman, husband's) involvement. I understand in many situations women could not even be directly arrested, until permission of their father or husband was acquired. True, a husband or father then became liable for his wife's/daughter's actions. But the principle of Numbers 30 (male protection over women) was honored. … [Read more...]

25 Lies My Church Told Me

lies

by Boze Herrington cross posted from his blog The Talking LlamaLast month in the week leading up to Christmas I and some of my friends on Twitter started our own hashtag trend, #LiesMyChurchToldMe. For two and a half days people tweeted the bewildering, puzzling, hilarious, and occasionally disturbing things that had been presented to them in church as the “plain teaching of Scripture.” … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Were We Even Watching the Same Program?

This is the Macklemore performance she's talking about. For more great Grammy photos be sure to check out Buzzfeed

by Laurie Higgins of Illinois Family Association, part of the American Family Association in an email that went out yesterday This past Sunday night's Grammy awards was a tragic freak show that demonstrated the entertainment industry's arrogance, ignorance of marriage, and disregard for children. It was a gawdy (sic) spitball hurled in the all-seeing eye of a holy God. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Sweetness & Light Always?

by Nancy Campbell from Above Rubies - We Can't Get Away With It Life is like a boomerang. What we say and do will always come back to us. We can't get away with anything. What we sow into our family life we will reap, not only in this life, but in generations to come. Our attitude and the words we speak (or don't speak if it is the "silent treatment") into our husband and children's lives will reap a harvest of blessing or ultimate destruction. … [Read more...]

True Love Doesn’t Beat Their Precious Children

Mary_Cassatt_The_Mirror

by Suzanne Calulu cross posted from her blog True Love Doesn't RapeOne thing I can count on daily with picking articles and updating No Longer Quivering. It's that I will view theology and quotations that will make me nearly sick. The one taking my breath away right now is Paige Coleman's "Pearls Before Swine". She's defending Michael and Debi Pearl, saying that they are not responsible for the death of Hana Grace Williams, even if the Williams hadn't admitted they were using the child discipline advice in the Pearl's 'To Train Up a Child' … [Read more...]

From the blog Strange Figures, a long list of commentary by Kevin Swanson - Homeschoolers, we can do better “Now remember, the goal is that these women have to be independent. The goal is lots and lots of birth control. The goal is lots and lots and lots of fornication. The goal is abortion. The day-after pill will help. And it will help a lot. Remember, the goal is to get that girl a job because she needs no stinkin’ husband, she’s got the fascist corporation and government-mandated insurance programs and socialist welfare that will take care of her womb to tomb. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Half Mothering?

by Nancy Campbell of Above Rubies - Half Mothering or Full Mothering? Christ, who lives in us is "prophet, priest, and king." I believe that every father should be a prophet to his family, seeking God for His ways and speaking God's counsel to His family. But, we as mothers also have a daily responsibility to speak the counsel of God to our children. Motherhood is even more than nurturing, feeding, and caring for our children. It is our God-given duty to feed their souls and spirits as well as their bodies. Even more so. … [Read more...]

I’ve only been at this for 11 months! Another 11 months to go! Woot!Part 1 was called “The Help Meet.” It included 14 chapters with titles ranging from “A Merry Heart” and “The Gift of Wisdom” to “The Nature of Man and Woman” and “King and Kingdoms.” I went through it page by page rather than chapter by chapter. Part 2 is called “Titus 2.” … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Healthy Co-Dependency?

codependent

by Rebecca Belcher Morecraft at Ladies Against Feminism and Chalcedon Presbyterian Church The separate roles God created “in the beginning” for each sex have largely been spurned by our culture and substituted with a false idea of equality that in no way resembles God’s original plan, when He created woman from the rib of man and arranged for future humans to spring from the womb of woman, thus establishing a healthy co-dependency for the continuance of life. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Taking The Cup?

A review of the "To Be One" DVD about Courtship/Betrothal/Marriage by The Old Schoolhouse Magazine My only reservation in recommending this video is the Lindvall story. I want to be gracious to the Lindvalls, but I was quite troubled by their story. My first concern was the process of choosing a wife for Timothy. According to all the men in the story, the Lord had "told" each of them that Brittany was the one for Timothy. The process of winning Brittany seemed to lack any emotion or feeling on the part of the prospective bridegroom, because the Lindvalls believe love should follow … [Read more...]
