So, Are You a Feminist?

Image from Defeating The Dragons - Samantha Field

by Samantha Field cross posted from her blog Defeating The Dragons It’s become almost de riguer for red-carpet journalists (and others) to confront a female celebrity and demand to know whether or not she considers herself a feminist. This bothers me. From what I’ve seen, most of the time the publication asking doesn’t have any vested interest in their answer (see, a Time magazine writer asking Shailene this question, and then another turning right around and putting “feminist” on their “words to ban” poll). This leads me to believe that these people aren’t confronting these women because they care about feminism, or want to help overturn some of the misconceptions about feminism– they jus … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Feminism Lies?

F-Bombs-for-feminism

by Matt Walsh posted at both The Matt Walsh Blog and The Blaze - Feminism is PoisonNot linking to Matt's blog because I do not want to give him the hit traffic on his ads. He wrote this piece in reaction to the FkcH8 video of the little girls using the word 'Fuck' to make a point. Love it or hate it, the video  does tend to make you think. Unfortunately it's making Matt lie and purposely impugn the honest, hard working men and women of the Bureau of Labor Statistics over their carefully collected data that shows an income gap based upon gender. … [Read more...]

Tim Bayly Is Tardy To Our Hen Party!

men-of-quality-women-rights

by Suzanne TitkemeyerEvangelical pastor/blogger Tim Bayly just discovered Vyckie Garrison's life story and *gasp* is busy clutching his pastoral pearls as he realizes that women are speaking out! Guessing sometimes information outside of the CPM bubble takes a while to trickle down past all those filters woven from old Bible pages.Women folks! They are speaking out 'online' and even worse, 'in real life', to the men folks! He can't understand how Vyckie could possibly have such a problem with God the Father and Christianity in general even after reading all the ways in which her own beliefs harmed her. It must be feminism according to him and his readers/commenters.He had this to … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Feminism is a Nazi-Like Plot?

obamawhitewomen

by Kelly Crawford from her blog Generation Cedar - Obama's Feminist Remark: It's Not About ChoiceKelly's really on a roll. Not merely content to make fun of an adult child coming to terms with possible parental abuse during homeschooled years now she's tossing about words like 'Hitler' and 'Choice' because of one short sentence uttered by the Commander in Chief, instantly invalidating her argument by the usage of the Nazis. Extremely disrespectful to anyone with Jewish heritage that may have lost family members to the camps. … [Read more...]

“Real Marriage” Review: 42 – 64, ‘Men and Marriage’

Magazine Illustration of Husband Kissing Wife in Kitchen

by Samantha Field cross posted from her blog Defeating The Dragons This was the first chapter that the book went flying. Honestly, I’m surprised I got to chapter three before that happened. This chapter was just … frustrating as hell to read. There’s so many problems with this chapter, and I’m going to spend my time today focusing on one of them, but it is important to at least point out a few other glaring problems. … [Read more...]

Ophelia Benson of The Free Thinker has written an awesome take down of the blog post we shared a small part of recently by Karl Heitman. You remember Karl? He's the pastor that said he would not allow his daughter to go to college if her motives were not right.  Here is what Ophelia had to say about Heitman's upset at the idea of women being educated like men are: What he means, of course, is that the idea that girls and women are human beings just as boys and men are, and should have access to education just as boys and men do, has infiltrated the Christian culture so thoroughly that even Christians are shocked that he plans to prevent his daughter from getting an education. There's a n … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Chivalry is Important?

Brienne Maid of Tarth and Jaime Lannister - always squabbling over who holds the sword and stands in front of who.

by Jana, Jill, Jessa and Jinger Duggar from their book "Growing Up Duggar" From page 136 - 137: It warms our hearts when we're around young men, including our brothers, who are courteous and quick to practice the fine old art of gentlemanly chivalry. Some women these days think that allowing men to help them with anything makes them appear weak, and they refuse to take a man's hand to help them down a step or object to a man's offer to help them carry a heavy love. However, a gentleman's courtesy is not about women being weak or strong; it's about men needing to be men. Gentlemanly behavior is cultivated as they learn to serve others and treat ladies as ladies.  We encourage these e … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Divinely Defined Gender Roles?

unfemininefeminity

by Nathaniel Darnell of Persevero News - Women Against Feminism“A man has no right to define for himself what his wife will do to please him. He must adopt Christ’s ideas, as revealed in Scripture, for what a wife must do to be a helpmeet to a husband and for what he must do to love her. Ephesians 5 tells us that this entails him giving up his life for her as Christ does for His Bride the Church. This involves a tremendous amount of unselfishness. It is a spending and being spent for her. What the authority of a man over his wife amounts to is that he is ultimately responsible for what goes wrong in his family. In the end of the analysis, no matter what the failures of his wife, he takes … [Read more...]
