Lies Women Believe – Review: 91 – 114

by Samantha Field cross posted from her blog Samantha P Field.comI think dividing up the review by the various “Lies” Nancy uses worked really well last week, so I’m going to keep doing that. Sorry for the irregular posting schedule as of late– it’s been an interesting few weeks, but I think I’m back in the flow of things now. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Part 3 – Have Your Babies In Your Teens?

by Biblical Gender Roles from Biblical Gender - Women's Ovaries Don't Agree With FeminismEditor's note: Now he blames 'feminism' for the rise in older maternal age and the reason that 'selfish women' think that they are entitled to some personal happiness the goals such as careers and educations. Completely ignores the fact that pre-feminism and pre-birth control that women of all ages died in childbirth and that constant breeding does not produce 'healthy children.' … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Part 1 – Have Your Babies In Your Teens?

by Biblical Gender Roles from Biblical Gender - Women's Ovaries Don't Agree With FeminismEditor's note: There is simply so much that is awful and typical of the quiverfull tendency to allow daughters to marry early that we're going to be examining this in parts like we do sometimes with the worst of Michael Pearl's writings. Apparently Biblical Gender Roles, like other patriarch-promoting types like Von Ohlman, believe that you should marry off your girls at peak fertility, which means not too long after they start their monthly cycles. He starts off the original article claiming that girls as young as 14 have less problems with pregnancy and childbirth than women starting in … [Read more...]

Happy Mother’s Day – Trying Out Motherhood

So this is sort of off topic and not Quiverfull related at all but in honor of Mother's Day this seemed appropriate to share. The Try Guys of are exploring motherhood as only guys can. Enjoy.Too bad that trying out motherhood like this isn't mandatory in high school because it might just make kids think twice about sex without birth control. One of my children did the Baby Think It Over for three days and nights and by the end was laying in her bed crying that she felt 'so trapped'. The experience taught her that she was not going to be ready for motherhood for quite some time. Not a bad thing to realize. … [Read more...]

Mothers Day Open Thread: Do You Have Regrets or Wisdom to Impart?

by Suzanne TitkemeyerAnother Mother's Day is almost upon us again and I have questions of all the readers here that left the Evangelical Quiverfull Movement. Do you regret having or trying to have a large number of children? What would you do differently if you did it over? What did you learn? What would you like others to know?Mother's Day can be one of the hardest days of the year for those in or out of the church because of society's insistence that motherhood be presented in a sentimental perfect light, even if you aren't Quiverfull. It's hard to stuff down negative feelings and experiences on a Hallmark manufactured holiday and pretend to a happiness you may not feel. If you are … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: If You Get Sick From “Doing It All” Then God Has Other Plans?

by Jenny Erwin from United Christian Homeschoolers Upstate - Wednesdays Words of Encouragement: May 'He' Get All The GloryFound this through Ladies Against Feminism and Be Not Weary websites. This sounds so very much like the stories of many of us Quiverfull walk-away moms that it's frightening. The difference is that she's still at that place where she cannot admit her own chosen religious lifestyle is causing her great physical harm. I hope she makes the connection soon and does what she needs to do to heal her body. Any life style that is destroying your body cannot be healthy for anyone, it sure doesn't benefit  anyone in the family, it makes it nearly impossible to do the things … [Read more...]

This Is What Evangelical Child Hoarding Looks Like – The Briggs Family

by Suzanne TitkemeyerThe Duggar family needs to count their kiddos and look over their shoulder to make sure they don't get pushed off the pedestal as the best known Quiverfull family out there because the Briggs family has 34 - count 'em - 34 kids. They also are planning on adding more children to their brood according to the piece about this family on The Today Show - Move Over, Duggars: Meet The Family With 34 Children....And They're Not Done Yet! … [Read more...]

by Vyckie Garrison founder of No Longer Quivering So this morning, I made a fascinating discovery: Two wholehearted, Christian homeschooling, homebirthing moms of many, Jenn and Kristen, who actually claim the label "Quiverfull" (they like to call themselves "Quiverific"!!) ... who have a YouTube channel ... Planet Mommyhood … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Where Are Those Frozen Embryos Souls While They Are Frozen?

by Adeye from No Greater Joy Mom - A New Date and QuestionsAdeye has shopped around until she found an in vitro clinic that will do the implantation of all four of the frozen embryos at the same time. She's answering questions on her blog, which led me to the question in the title. Are a few frozen cells the same thing as a full formed baby? … [Read more...]
