Did Religion Kill Prince?

by Suzanne Titkemeyer cross posted from her blog Every Breaking Wave Like most of the world I got the news of the passing of artist Prince Rogers Nelson in the early afternoon yesterday. Yes, it was a shock. Another influential musician dead in 2016 among too many others. Please, whoever controls the universe, give us a break on carrying off beloved musical figures for a little while. It's just been too much this year. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: The HPV Vaccine Gives Girls Permission to Have Sex?

by Steven L. Anderson from Faithful Word Baptist Church - Physicians of No ValueEditor's note: Regardless of how you line up on the to vaccinate or not vaccinate debate it's a stretch at best to say that vaccinating a child against a possible future STD is giving them carte blanche to go out and start having piles of promiscuous sexual activity with anything or anyone. He misses the point that the reason Gardasil is given is to protect girls against an STD that leads to high rates of uterine cancer later. There is a long term goal benefit. Most of Anderson's sermon can also be distilled down to don't go to the doctor except as a last resort and the Bible holds all the medical wisdom … [Read more...]

NLQ Question of the Week: Why is Modern Medicine Denigrated?

This is a new series we have started running on Thursdays. Examining some of the questions involving long held Quiverfull theology and life. We've all seen the Quiverfull families that refuse all modern medicine, sometimes with rather dire consequences. I'm thinking of a lady at my former church that had a very treatable form of cancer yet refused all treatments because she believed that medicine was idolatry and that God would heal her. She's been six feet under for quite some time now, dying in horrible agony. Her husband took the insurance money from her death to buy a yellow Corvette, and marry a much younger better looking woman after the death of his wife. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Don’t Believe Doctors?

by Debi Pearl from Preparing To Be A Help Meet.Com - Pregnant With CancerEditor's note: So now Debi is denigrating doctors, people highly educated in the scientific field medicine as not being credible. Guessing what what little she's saying about the situation of the mother that the mother was advised to either abort the baby or deliver very early in order to have the best odds for surviving the cancer. It's a hard choice and one that each person needs to approach on their own, decide what they can or cannot live with and make without someone with zero knowledge and education, like Debi, shaming them. … [Read more...]

Not Quoting Quiverfull: Faith Healing & Child Welfare – Who Decides?

by Leah Sottile from Aljazeera America - Idaho's Faith-Healing Debate Pits Child Welfare Against Parental RightsEditor's note: Interesting debate on who gets to decide if a child gets conventional medical treatment which goes back to the old assertion by HSLDA that parents 'own' their children. But when children start dying from preventable causes due to a parent's religious beliefs at what point does the government step in to save the life of the child? … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Should There Be Rules Governing Public Access For Un Vaccinated Children?

by Matt Walsh from The Matt Walsh Blog - So Should We Just Round Up The Anti-Vaccine Parents And Ship Them To Guantanamo? (Don't be afraid to click on the link as we always use 'Do Not Link' on Matt's blog, but be prepared for a huge number of pop up ads.)Editor's note: Since the exposure of unvaccinated children and adults at Disneyland to someone with an active case of measles leading to a spreading outbreak of a disease thought to be eradicated years ago there's been much talk of isolating those without the vaccination.  Many physicians offices, schools and other public places are starting to ban the unvaccinated. The Anti-Vaxxer movement is firmly entrenched in the world of QF and E … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Godly Response to a Sick Friend?

by Kelly Reins from Ladies Against Feminism and her blog Ah The Life - A Snippet From a Letter to a Friend I am praying for you. I know it's difficult to be still and I know you know this, that there is great joy having no distractions between ourselves and our great Saviour (sic). There is precious insight in the much afforded quiet time and as much as pills, and herbs, and various other remedies bring relief, it is true that there is an equal amount of relief in walking through sanctification, delighting to do the smallest thing He asks us in faith, and becoming so acquainted with Him, it seems hard to have to part and bring the mind back to the cares of this world. … [Read more...]

News: Faith Healing or Child Abuse?

by M. Dolon Hickmon at onFaith - For Sect in Idaho, Faith Healing Becomes Faith Killing Although detested by God, the worship of Molek crops up among so-called believers in both the Old and New Testaments. Often referred to as “passing their sons and daughters through the fire,” the sacrifices were notably always children. Described as exceptionally painful, these innocent deaths were usually witnessed by the parents, who shared sympathetically in their own child’s suffering. By enduring, the adults hoped to prove their faith and earn favor from a deity. … [Read more...]

Then and Now

by AJ cross posted from her blog I Am PhoenixI'm becoming more and more aware that I don't need to "aware" of my beliefs in order for them to affect my life. My beliefs shape the way my life is branching out right at this very moment, even if many of these beliefs were formed many years ago and I don't give them much thought today. … [Read more...]
