Quoting Quiverfull: Neronic or Neurotic?

Kevin Swanson from Generations With Vision Ministries in Right Wing Watch - Kevin Swanson Warns "This Whole Lesbian Whatever Has Turned People Into 'Feces Eaters' "On Monday, “Generations Radio” host Kevin Swanson warned that “this whole lesbian whatever, the Neronic agenda” — the term he regularly uses to describe the LGBT rights movement — has helped plunged society into “dysfunctionality” and turned people into “feces eaters.” “There’s not just divorce: people are eating their own feces, there’s incest everywhere,” Swanson lamented. He said that only churches like his can draw the feces-eaters back to God: “There’s a contrast between the feces-eaters and the church and I think the fe … [Read more...]

by Matthew Jacobson at The Time Warp Wife - 10 Things You Won't Find In A Godly Marriage 1.     A Sharp TongueIt can be easy to cut with words when things don’t go our way but, in a godly marriage, neither spouse yields to this ungodly impulse. (James 3:8) … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Socialization Isn’t Important?

Even chickens need socialization

by Matt Walsh at The Matt Walsh Blog - Behold: the two absolutely worst arguments against homeschooling I’ll only say that you chose a pretty strange analogy to prove your point. You can’t teach a child to swim without bringing him to a pool? I agree. But do you bring a child to the pool, drop him there with a thousand other kids, then come back 6 hours later, and repeat that process every day, five days a week, for the next 12 to 13 years? Or do you bring him to the pool, hang out with him, maybe even get in the water and play some Marco Polo, and then leave with him after a couple of hours? … [Read more...]

by Jenny McGinnis at Above Rubies - Daughters in Waiting: Finished School? What Now? Upon reaching the age of 18 and officially graduating from our family home school, I immediately met with very intense pressure from friends, teachers, and others to pursue a profession, attend college and even move out and get a "place of my own."  Many people assured me this would enable me to become a successful, independent career woman. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Motherhood is Servanthood?

When you Google 'Mother Servant' you get images of Mother Theresa and other nuns and priests serving the poor. Somehow I don't think this is what Nancy Campbell had in mind.

by Nancy Campbell at Above Rubies - To Serve or Not to Serve I have been thinking about our great role of "serving" in motherhood. As a young mother I remember feeling "I'm just a jolly servant around this place." I was still filled with selfishness, and although I loved my children and loved motherhood, I still wondered why I had to be the servant. … [Read more...]

Patriarchy in Homeschool Culture

This is what "The Patriarchy" looks like in my head

by Samantha Field cross posted from her blog Defeating the Dragons I grew up in a subculture of evangelical Christianity that’s known as “Christian Patriarchy,” which is what the people who preach and teach this “lifestyle” un-ironically call it. I was also peripherally a part of the Quiverful and Stay-at-Home-Daughters movements, which are all separate things. A family can be Quiverful without preaching Christian Patriarchy or requiring daughters to remain at home until marriage, for example. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Satan Did It?

abortionslutshaming

Don't know if anyone here has been following the saga of Flip Benham's sons and HGTV. You remember Flip, he is the head of Operation Rescue/Operation Save America and one of the big early players in the Right to Life movement.Flip organizes folks to carry signs, protest at any clinic that might offer abortion services and Planned Parenthood clinics. They block entrances, parking lots and try to harass anyone working at the clinic or visiting for any reason. Which is sad because there are lots of legitimate reasons to visit those clinics that have nothing to do with getting an abortion. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Purpose of Children?

childrenplaying

by Kelly Crawford from her blog Generation Cedar - The Purpose of Children (They Are Not For Us - And They Are) Children are not given to us so they can win beauty pageants, or because they’re cute. They’re not even to make us happy, though that is a fantastic by-product. Children are given to us as God’s very heritage, to propagate the gospel, to take a vital part in the Great Commission, to be part of the picture of the gospel, as representing the fruitfulness of the Bride and the Groom, to contend with the enemies of the cross. … [Read more...]
