By Its Cover: The Duggar Book Signing

by Suzanne Titkemeyer cross posted from her blog True Love Doesn't Rapeor White Privilege, Judgmentalism and Duggars, Oh Boy!Warning: This is long and I talk a great deal about how my daughter was treated by “Good Christians”. These are my impressions, not necessarily the views of anyone else. I didn't say much about Michelle Duggar. Saving that for another post since I'm still sorting out my thoughts upon meeting her.Yesterday I took a little trip from my bungalow in Washington DC/Northern Virginia suburbia to another Northern Virginia section of suburbia to see TLC's “19 Kids & Counting” Duggars up close and in person. I took my college-aged daughter Laura from … [Read more...]

PCC Has Released a Statement

by Samantha Field cross posted from her blog Defeating The Dragons  When I was writing my post “‘God is Done with You’: Pensacola Christian College and Sexual Violence“, I tried contacting four different departments at the school. All refused to speak with me, citing policy, and referred me to Amy Glenn, the Chief Communications Officer. It took me several days to reach her (she was out sick and very busy when she got back), but when I did eventually get in touch with her I asked her to confirm some very basic facts about the administration and their policies. When she got back with me, she stated that she could not answer most of my questions and that PCC did not comment on “blog-t … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Lessons Learned From The Duggars?

by Nathaniel Darnell from Persevero News - Three Lessons to Learn from Duggars' New Courtship Jessa Duggar is gone-a-courtin! The fifth oldest of the 20 Duggar children has begun a courtship with a young man named Ben Seewald, reports Yahoo!, and it appears the courtship will feature prominently in the family’s TV show 19 Kids and Counting. It’s a good thing the Duggars don’t seem to mind living in a house of glass because no doubt they are going to be getting a lot scrutiny as they look to give their first daughter away in marriage. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Reexamining Traditional Gender Roles Emasculates Men?

from Ladies Against Feminism - "Free To Be... You and Me" Emasculated Men Nineteen seventy-four was a grim year in the history of the Republic. An embargo had quadrupled the price of oil and touched off an energy crisis so severe that the state of Oregon banned Christmas lights as wasting energy. The president of the United States seemed to have taken part in a criminal conspiracy that would soon lead to his resignation. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Always Being Open?

by Vaughn Ohlman from True Love Doesn't Wait, Really - Always Being OpenRecently I have had some discussions about  a doctrine often called full quiver. I am ‘full quiver’ and I believe the doctrine to be an integral part of marriage, to the extent we included it in our betrothal covenant for my oldest son and his wife. The statement I made, that caused quite a bit of discussion, was this: … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Bill Gothard’s Link To The Duggars

Looks like some of the media outlets are starting to put together the fact that '19 Kids & Counting' Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have been serious supporters of Bill Gothard and his IBLP and ATI programs and, to a lesser extent, Doug Phillips and Vision Forum. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: College Just Extended Adolescense?

by Ladies Against Feminism - Family Economics: Why I Hated College Everyone seems to have a college degree, but no one seems to use it. We graduate from college ramping up scores of allegedly useful facts and critical thinking skills that ultimately teach us only how to do what we probably could have done already. … [Read more...]

The Ten Men

by Vyckie Garrison of No Longer QuiveringI seriously need to stop reading the writings of contemporary Patriarchs ... I thought the Persevero News article that I posted earlier today which defends child abusers was bad (and it is!), but Vaughn Ohlman's latest is equally infuriating!! … [Read more...]

Fighting the Doctrine of Worthlessness

by Joe Sands cross posted from his blog Incongruous Circumspection Let's toss out the Bible. I've lost a bunch of you. That's okay, I know you'll keep reading in order to strengthen your beliefs, so I'll just hope that my words "won't come back void." Yep...two can play at this game. You've heard it said, "A little leaven leavens (or leaveneth for you KJV types keeping score) the whole lump." This phrase comes from the Apostle Paul, encouraging the new Christian church to dump those that were naughty. Kick them out. Excommunicate them, if you will. The idea was that the naughty member would, in time, permeate the rest of the church, making them all naughty. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Give or it Will be Ripped From You?

by Bambi from the blog In The Nursery of the Nation - Motherhood and the Paradox of Dying to Live There are days of motherhood, long seasons even, that are quite laborious.  And if you are like me, motherhood brought about the first time you were ever really tested in this matter of laying down your life.  Took me a long time to realize that the things motherhood took from me while I was still resentful of it, was not true sacrifice. I would keep a mental tally of just how many bottoms I wiped, how many corrections I had given and just how long it took me to get school done that day. How many … [Read more...]
