Quoting Quiverfull: Voting & Jury Duty Are For Men Only?

by Jonathan Lindvall from Bold Christian Living I obviously share your conclusion that young women serving on a jury is a very vulnerable, potentially damaging experience we should be able to shield them from. Let me share some thoughts of how we can protect our daughters from this particular emotional/mental threat. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Invasion of the Baby-Snatchers?

by Stacy McDonald of Ladies Against Feminism - Invasion of the Baby-Snatchers The Minimization of the homemaker’s role has been a priority of the feminist movement for decades. Feminist advocates have sought to down play the maternal desires of women and bread down the ties that bind a mother to her home and children. French author and feminist Simone de Beauvoir warned her fellow … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Feminism is Killing God?

by Nancy Campbell posted at Above Rubies - The Power of Womanhood Dear wives and mothers, we have the great privilege and power to reveal God to the world. God has created us female to reveal a certain image of His character. He has chosen us to reveal His mothering and nurturing anointing to our families and to the world. He created us to be bear children. He created us to be mothers. As we embrace who we are, we not only fulfill our destiny but bring glory to our Creator. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Demanding Sex is Unbiblical?

by John Piper of the Desiring God blog - When the Sex Should StopMisuse #1: “Give me more sex, because the Bible says so.” A truncated explanation of 1 Corinthians 7:5 inevitability leads to this rationale. But whether it’s the husband or the wife pleading this case, it turns into trouble as soon as the other spouse isn’t on board. … [Read more...]

Class, College, and Courtship: Why the next generation of Quiverfull will probably be poorer than their parents

by The Graduate I think that part of the reason that our family was never really considered true homeschoolers by some of our peers is because we had money.  My dad is a brilliant businessman, and his success certainly did drive a wedge between us and our peers, and we were always viewed as different.  It is true that we did the same things to save money that other homeschool families did, but we did them as our hobbies, not out of necessity.  We never struggled with making the mortgage or worried about our cars breaking down. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: How Much More ‘Clear’ Does Doug Phillips Need to Be?

by Doug Phillips of Vision Forum on Vision Forum Ministries website re his 'sin' that caused the closing of Vision Forum Ministries I would like to express my gratitude for the great kindness so many have shown to my family in the wake of my stepping down as president of Vision Forum Ministries. My family has been greatly encouraged by many loving notes we have received. With that in mind, I want to be so very clear about the rightness of this transition, and I want to clear up some matters which have been brought to my … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Sincere Repentance?

by Doug Phillips of Vision Forum - True Repentance But repentance must be sincere. It must spring from “godly sorrow.” Too often “repentance” is the experience of offering a half-hearted and self-serving apology to God and man, mixed with large amounts of blame-shifting, pride, and a desire to be done with the whole matter so you don’t ever have to deal with it again. It is the “I have said I am sorry on my terms and in my way, and there is nothing more I need to do, so if that is not good enough for you, then you are the one in sin” attitude. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Female Soldiers Forced Into Combat?

Ladies Against Feminism posted this snippet of the original blog posting at Why I Am Not A Feminist by Judithann Campbell. Judithann Campbell is not Quiverfull or part of the Fundamentalist Evangelical crowd represented by people like the Botkins. Ladies Against Feminism used her writing without giving her credit or even looking to see if the rest of the article conforms with their beliefs. Perfect example of LAF cherry picking to support their issues. … [Read more...]

Christian Cliches: “Lean Not on Your Own Understanding”

by Kristen Rosser cross posted from her blog Wordgazer's WordsWhen I was part of Maranatha Campus Ministries back in the 1980s, "Lean not on your own understanding" was a cliche they were particularly fond of.  I remember when they were teaching us that Genesis 1:28, where God told the first male and female to "have dominion. . . over every living thing that moves on the earth," was a divine mandate meaning that today Christians are to "have dominion" in society and government, to "take over" for Jesus and make Christian principles and morality the "law of the land."  I remember shaking my head in puzzlement.  That passage doesn't say anything about human beings ruling over other human … [Read more...]
