Quoting Quiverfull: Jim Bob Duggar Great Dad Allows Consequences for ‘Sinful Behavior’?

by Michelle Duggar from The Duggar Family.com - 5 Reasons Why Jim Bob Duggar Is A Loving DadEditor's note: In light of what his son Josh did to his own sisters this is just ridiculous to claim. It minimizes the damage done and the criminal nature of Josh's actions while pretending Jim Bob allowed him to face real consequences. For a complete takedown of all the ridiculous things Michelle is claiming about Jim Bob take a look at the Facebook group Duggar Family News: Life is not all pickles and hairspray. They posted a point by point rebuttal to Michelle's words. This is nothing more than a shameless attempt to try and make everyone forget about their recent troubles so that they can … [Read more...]

Did Jim Bob and Josh Duggar Commit Perjury?

by Suzanne TitkemeyerIt seems that In Touch Weekly's method of filing for legal documents using the US Freedom of Information Act has caught on with the other tabloids. Looks like Radar Online went on a document fishing expedition looking for legal papers and found the trial transcripts from when Jim Bob and Josh sued several insurance companies for not paying out a claim. … [Read more...]

Thoughts on Charleston

by Samantha Field cross posted from her blog Defeating The Dragons If you haven’t heard about what happened in Charleston, South Carolina this past Wednesday night, here’s a brief summary: A white man walked into a Bible study at Emmanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church– which is one of the oldest black congregations in the country and is an icon of the Abolitionist and Civil Rights movements– and sat in the service for an hour before shooting and killing nine black people, mostly women, while saying “I have to do it. You rape our women and are taking over our country and you have to go.” This white man has confessed to the terrorist attack and told the police that he “wanted to start a … [Read more...]

by Suzanne Titkemeyer..and why are they saying that both the Washington County Sheriff's Dept and the Tontitown Police might be opening an investigation as well? Yesterday morning In Touch Weekly released police reports from that recent 911 call made by a DHS worker investigation allegations that a child was in need. Tontitown Police released their documentation that lists it as an ongoing investigation. False Start

by PropinquaEditor's note: This is another in our series of articles written by anonymous authors that are not linked to any blog. The Josh Duggar saga has raised lots of disturbing questions about the scope of child sexual abuse. How bad does it have to be, to rate the label of abuse? If the victim is unaware of the predator’s actions or intent, should the predator be excused? In the Duggar case, little girls were involved, and the damage to them has been denied and hidden. While no one wants to force survivors to relive child sexual abuse, that unwillingness stands in the way of helping the survivors themselves come to terms with what happened to them. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Raising Sons to Marry Young?

by Vaughn Ohlman from True Love Doesn't Wait - Raising a Son to be MarriedEditor's note: Would it not be a better thing for society in general if we all raised our sons to be well rounded individuals ready to contribute to society and life on this planet instead of raising them to marry and start spewing out children immediately? Whatever happened to helping your son mature, settle into a means to support himself, and eventually a family, ensure he's educated, knows how to take care of himself, instead of having him marry right out of the family home with zero life experience? Going from control by mommy and daddy to a marriage that daddy oversees with no personal autonomy? Learning … [Read more...]

Your Weekly Duggar Scandal News

by Suzanne Titkemeyer Oddly enough there are no new legal documents or scandals involving TLC's "19 Kids & Counting" Duggar family coming out of In Touch magazine. Which really surprises me considering the several interviews I saw with the editor handling the Duggar content said things that indicated that what they'd released already was just the tip of the iceberg. … [Read more...]

Jill and Jessa as Quivering Daughters: Hillary McFarland’s Book is Available Again!

by Cindy Kunsman cross posted from her blog Under Much Grace The previous post explains the plight of Second Generation Adults of Patriarchy (SGAs) — those who suffer in the confinement of thought and in the circumstances in life created by Christians who sought to help their families.  The SGA describes adults who grew up in a family that followed high demand religion — a process that has profound effects for those who endure it.  Quivering Daughters by Hillary McFarland seeks to help those who have lived a “Duggar-like lifestyle” but found that it worked to destroy that which it was meant to create.  Rather than a nurturing environment of safety and love, many of its daughters and sons wer … [Read more...]

How many lies can you find? Part 2 Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar on Fox

by Mel cross posted from her blog When Cows and Kids CollidePart oneTo keep things straight, I've made a cheat sheet based off the Duggar Police Report of 2006.March 2002: Josh (14 years) confesses to Jim Bob and Michelle that he's molested Daughters "A" and "D" while they were sleeping (when at least one girl was sleeping on the couch of the living room).  "D" doesn't remember the abuse; "A" woke up at one point and thought in her half-awake state that Josh was stealing her blanket. … [Read more...]

“How To Win Over Depresson” – review – 113 – 136

by Samantha Field cross posted from her blog Defeating The Dragons For new readers: this post is part of a regular blog feature, where I read through influential books on Christian living. The beginning of the series covering Tim LaHaye’s How to Win Over Depression is here; you can also read through my series on Helen Andelin’s Fascinating Womanhood, John and Stasi Eldredge’s Captivating, Mark and Grace Driscoll’s Real Marriage, and Rob and Kristin Bell’s Zimzum of Love. ~~~~~~~~~ These two chapters were repetitive, so I’m going to do my best not to rehash things I’ve already commented on. A few things jumped out to me on this reading of “How to Overcome Self-Pity,” especially one thing in … [Read more...]
