Answering ‘Preparing To Be A Help Meet’ – I Am Worried About The Guy My Friend Is Interested In

Another installment of giving better answers to the questions asked at Debi Pearl’s site message board for the book ‘Preparing To Be A Help Meet’. Many young ladies ask questions on all sorts of different subjects brought up by the book. There was just one big problem, many of the answers stray into either the outright bad and emotionally unhealthy to dangerous. Yes, typical Debi Pearl borderline abusive. Here’s what we’re going to be doing here at NLQ. Every week, once or twice a week, I’ll be posting up one of the questions from the message board and ask you, our readers, to answer that poor soul’s question in a way that is logical,  rational and the best possible solution, in other words 1 … [Read more...]

Duggar Kama Sutra Counting On

Editor's note: I found this funny bit that I started to put together to publish on NLQ  around 15 months ago, but never got around to finishing. Good for a raining cold Saturday afternoon. This was written well before any of the various Josh Duggar sex fiend/molester allegations came to light. … [Read more...]

NLQ Question of the Week: Is Quiverfull Inherently Racist?

This is a new series we have started running on Thursdays. Examining some of the questions involving long held Quiverfull theology and life.Today's question comes out of a discussion I recently had with a journalist about Quiverfull. She wanted to know if I thought it was geared more toward whites and not other races. Told her while there are some of other races that take part, such as Voddie Baucham, for the most part there does seem to be a tendency towards racism. … [Read more...]

What Would America Look Like if it Were Truly… ‘Christian’

by Cindy Foster cross posted from her blog Finding FundamentalThis season’s political climate and campaign have provoked me to revisit some of my formerly-held beliefs that America, it's foundation, founders and founding documents, is positively, expressly ‘Christian’ in identity and purpose. … [Read more...]

I’m From Iowa

by Ellen cross posted from her blog When Church HurtsEditor's note: Posting this in light of yesterday being Super Tuesday and the increasingly serious political season. Ellen's explanation of the Iowa caucus is interesting. Watching the Quiverfull Evangelicals try to figure out who to vote for is even more interesting. Nancy Campbell is heavily pushing Ted Cruz, while others are lining up behind Donald Trump, so it's anyone's race in the world of Christianity. … [Read more...]

Bill Gothard’s Abuse is Not a Surprise

by Lana Hope cross posted from her blog Wide Open GroundIf you follow developments in homeschool leadership, you likely know that prominent homeschool leader Bill Gothard is alleged to have sexually groomed and molested dozens of young women during his leadership career in homeschool and other fundamentalist Christian circles, beginning in the 1970s and continuing until he stepped down from leadership a couple years ago. You likely also know that a handful of graduates from his leadership programme, IBLB, are suing Gothard, and subsequently the entire IBLP leadership board for turning a blind-eye to Gothard’s crimes. … [Read more...]

Please Vote ‘No’ For Theocracy, Ted Cruz and Kevin Swanson’s God

by Heather Doney cross posted from her blog Becoming WorldlyIt’s blizzarding here in Boston today and I’m stuck at home, in a house creaking with snowy wind gusts, with this lovely view, watching YouTube videos while eating leftover king cake. My boyfriend is barely awake because Bostonians seem to love sleeping in on snow days. But I’ve been up for hours, finding myself wondering whether a breakfast beer would be appropriate around 9. Now considering back home in New Orleans it is Lundi Gras and beer or a bloody Mary would be totally expected, here it just doesn’t seem like it meshes with the environment. Boston is a place where people get nighttime trashed (“holding your liquor” not see … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Silly Silly Non-Believers Ruining World For Lack of Wisdom?

by Colin Campbell from Meat For Men - His Heightened Senses 15bEditor's note: I guess Colin is not 'Feeling the Bern' if any of his recent posts are any indication. What he is feeling is all political, discussing the various candidates and how they line up with his views. Much of it is centered around abortion, mostly his insistence that there be no abortion exceptions made in cases or rape or incest. According to him every child conceived must be born. He's mentioning names and candidates, promoting some, excoriating others, from his charitable ministry platform against the IRS rules on political jockeying. Here he's blaming poor judgment for many things wrong in the USA and is saying … [Read more...]
