Quoting Quiverfull: Kevin Swanson Says Duggars Most Persecuted Family in America

by Kevin Swanson as quoted by Raw Story - Pastor who wants gay people executed says nobody more persecuted than the DuggarsEditor's note: Clearly Swanson hasn't looked at any comments on message boards about the Kardashian family or he'd see they might be just a tiny bit more hated by the American public that the Duggars. It's not persecution when they cancel your television show because your family is criminally dysfunctional enough to cover up sex crimes by a junior family member. Has he never read the scripture about reaping the thing you are sowing? Seems to me that the Duggars are reaping the harvest of their planting right now. … [Read more...]

NLQ Question of the Week: Why the Outrage Over Small Things While Ignoring the Larger Issues?

This is a new series we have started running on Thursdays. Examining some of the questions involving long held Quiverfull theology and life. This week's Starbucks Red Cuptroversy has brought up today's question. We've seen it again and again in the world of Quiverfull/Fundamentalism/Evangelicalism, outrage and protests or flocking to support something minor while the big things Jesus commanded his followers to do get ignored. Anyone remember the Chik Fil A support day by Christians showing their appreciation for Chik Fil A supporting anti-homosexuality groups? How about the claims that Pokemon cards were demonic? How about when the movie 'Noah' came out? Scads of ridiculous things, some … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Birth Control Pills Kill Babies?

by Steven L. Anderson from Faithful Word Baptist Church - Why Birth Control is WrongEditor's note: I don't know if I should laugh or be jaw-dropped over the fact that Anderson clearly has no real scientific idea how birth control pills actually work. They don't 'kill babies', the ones on the market now prevent the egg from ever leaving the ovary so that there cannot even be a fertilized egg must less a baby. The older pills prevented implantation of fertilized eggs. But an egg is not a baby, a long way from it. We've moved past that. Too bad his science knowledge has not. … [Read more...]

Starbucks Cup-troversy – Symptom of a Deeper Problem

by Suzanne Titkemeyer cross posted from her blog Every  Breaking WaveWarning! A Rant!On Saturday morn I noticed a strange set of memes and videos going around Facebook. Posted on the pages of those people I know that are still going to either evangelical or fundamentalist churches in my area were images and comments on how Starbucks was persecuting Christians. How? By this year's holiday coffee cup design. … [Read more...]

Trusting Birth – Another View of Duggar Home Birthing?

Dr. Amy Tuteur is at it again. This time she's explaining in a blog post all the things that could have caused the type of bleeding that sent Jessa Duggar Seewald to the hospital post home birth. She also has an interesting view of the birth stories of other Duggar women that ended up in the hospital. Birthing odds of 200 years ago would have surely killed not only Jessa, Jill and Israel, but likely Michelle Duggar too. Josh was a forceps baby and her twins, Jana and John David were born by cesarean after Michelle developed preeclampsia. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: No Birth Control Leads To Growing Instead Of Crisis Management?

by Zsuzsanna Anderson from her blog Are They All Yours?Editor's note: The great comedy of this bit by Zsu is that in a previous entry she was complaining that church nursery was dangerous to children because of the adult to child ratio. Yet here she is saying that passing on the tradition of no birth control teaches you to grow from being stretched to your limits. So which is it? There must be so many children to adult for safety or not? She also was claiming that a nursery at a former church she attended was responsible for the deaths of  babies in the nursery. Surely if an alarming number of babies were dying at a certain church's nursery wouldn't we hear about that in the news? Would … [Read more...]

Jessa Duggar Seewald Birth Drama

Because People magazine has an exclusive on the birth of Jessa Duggar Seewald's baby boy there's not been a lot of information available. TMZ just published a report that Jessa tried to have a home birth but something didn't go right and she was taken from the Duggar compound to a local hospital.  That baby boy weighed an impressive 9 pounds 11 ounces and was over 21 inches long. Might be that he was just too big to come naturally at home. That is a huge first baby! … [Read more...]

What Ken Ham Thinks The Atheist Agenda Is

by Bruce Gerencser cross posted from The Life and Times of Bruce GerencserEditor's note: Since we sometimes talk about Quiverfull Homeschooling and Ken Ham is followed and praised by many in the homeschooling communities we need to look at his science-denying/Christian persecution beliefs. All you have to do it look at some of the presidential candidates and see that science-denial like Ham practices is rampant in all levels of society. Bruce is talking from the perspective of someone that has left fundamentalist Christianity, specifically he left Independent Fundamentalist Baptist religion and theology far behind. Please keep this in mind while reading his rebuttal of Ham. If you … [Read more...]
