Your Word is a Lamp For My Feet: The Crash and Burn Life of Justin Bieber and Others

justin1

by Bruce Gerencser cross posted from his site The Way ForwardYour (God) Word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. Psalm 119:105Evidently, the lamp is burnt out for the man sporting this tattoo. In recent years, this man has given himself to debauchery, violence, and mischief. He is, in every way, a self-absorbed shit concerned only with himself. But hey, he loves Jesus. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Questions, Questions

michelle

From TV Watch: Michelle Duggar speaking of her teenaged bulimia and dating Jim Bob Duggar to promote the new book and a new season of "19 Kids and Counting".This is a slightly different Quoting Quiverfull: While I think it's admirable that Michelle Duggar has both beaten bulimia and been open and honest about her struggle I have to ask our readers if a) a teenaged boyfriend is really an ideal accountability partner for a serious condition and b) why all the dating that led to a successful marriage yet they only approve courtship for their children? … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: The Bible Helps PTSD?

Quotes1-300x250 (2)

by Kenneth Copeland and David Barton on the Believers Voice of Victory television show (clip of show at link)  - Veterans should not suffer from PTSD On Veteran’s Day, the two decided that they would “help” with the problem of PTSD on the Believer’s Voice of Victory program. How? By citing the Bible, of course. Because every American in the military is an evangelical Christian — or should be, they think — so this passage from Numbers, Chapter 32 should erase the problem altogether: … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: The World Aborts the Imperfect?

Quotes1-300x250

by Anna Higgins from the Family Research Council blog - Chasing Perfection Perfection is a ghost. Many of us pursue it all our lives in our own strength, only to find it unattainable. We keep our faults hidden and run from those who are less than our image of “perfection.” This attitude can be deadly. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Mental Illness is Self Focus?

Quotes1-300x250

by John Piper from desiring God - 10 Resolutions for Mental Health That night Dr. Kilby had a pastoral heart and a poet’s eye. He pled with us to stop seeking mental health in the mirror of self-analysis, but instead to drink in the remedies of God in nature. He was not naïve. He knew of sin. He knew of the necessity of redemption in Christ. But he would have said that Christ purchased new eyes for us as well as new hearts. His plea was that we stop being unamazed by the strange glory of ordinary things. He ended that lecture in 1976 with a list of resolutions. As a tribute to my teacher and a blessing to your soul, I offer them for your joy. … [Read more...]

Millipede Part 27

by MillipedeWhen I got to my sister's place, she called her neighbor's son. We ended up going out to see the trailer that day. It was a pleasant day for traveling; warm and sunny. It matched my mood perfectly. I was floating along that day, nothing could get me down. The early fall colors were beautiful and made for a great drive. The trailer was in decent condition. There was some work that needed to be done. It was full of the previous occupants' belongings and one whole side was missing the metal siding. I imagine that it was stolen for scrap, however that was small fry. Overall, it was in good and solid shape. Better yet, the neighbor's son wanted only a small finder's fee for … [Read more...]
