From the Botkin Sisters (Anna Sophia and Elizabeth) Blog Visionary DaughtersThe entire Botkin family is doing another one of their paid seminars, this time having to do with how you need to home school your child to make them into a successful adult, complete with the scare-tactic graphic of a wide-eyed teen reading a mock up newspaper with headlines such as 'College Grads Can't Find Work' and 'Generation Y Unemployed' … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Bite Your Tongue?

From Ladies Against Feminism - Godly Speech People say,” I always say what I think,” as if that is a good quality, that is a terrible quality. I wouldn’t admit it to anybody. In fact, I would confess it before God. And also, somebody who always speaks what is on his mind and on his emotions is somebody who is a slave to his emotions. I feel sorry for the poor person. Even if what you say is right, even if what you say is true, there are sometimes, you’re just going to keep your mouth closed. … [Read more...]

The Terrifying Side of Trendy: Are Home Births Safe?

From the legal firm blog of Console and Hollawell cross posted with their permissionMy childhood friend and her husband wanted an at-home birth. Like many, they were attracted to the idea of bringing their child into the world in a calm and peaceful setting, exchanging hospital linoleum for their cozy California home. They weren’t against technology, they were simply taken in by a growing trend that popularizes midwifery as enlightened, almost luxurious. As society emphasizes “all-natural” and “organic,” a home birth can appeal to intellectuals and progressives alike as an alternative to an allegedly intrusive, chemical-soaked hospital. … [Read more...]

“But That’s What The Bible Says”

by Kristen Rosser cross posted from her blog Wordgazer's WordsI have written extensively on this blog about why "But the Bible clearly says" isn't necessarily a very good defense for certain traditionalist positions.  I've written a lot of posts that analyze certain texts which are supposedly "clear," but which maybe weren't intended by the original writers (or understood by the original audiences) to mean what seems so "clear" to us today. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Don’t Blame Daddy For Your Betrothal?

by Von Ohlman at True Love Doesn't Wait - To Betroth or not to Betroth: A Response to Michael Pearl Part 1 Mr. Pearl’s article (and I should say I greatly enjoy the work that the Pearls have done on child training, his wife’s book ‘Helpmeet’, and other books and articles) begins rather interestingly, for a Biblical topical study. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: So Easing Your Child’s Discomfort is Sin?

by Jay Younts of Shepherd Press - The Tyranny of the Immediate If your children believe the lie that getting instant relief from their discomfort or discontent is ultimate, then they are bound by the power of sin. This pattern, if not stopped, will result in a life dominated by the desire for immediate gratification.Immediate gratification is the gateway to a life of slavery. Understanding this will help you teach your children to see how sin deceives them. Sin feeds on the desire for immediate results. That is why a child can go from seeming bliss to outrage in an eye blink. One moment everything is fine. Then he sees his brother with a toy that he wants and he immediately erupts with … [Read more...]
