CTBHHM: Divine Lovers and Desperate Castration

created

by Libby Anne cross posted from her blog Love, Joy, FeminismCreated To Be His Help Meet, pp. 164—167We’re still in the chapter on loving your husband, which means this week is going to be all about sex once again. No woman loves her husband if she does not seek to please  him in this most important area. If you are not interested in sex, then at least be interested in him enough to give him good sex. If you are not loving your man, you are in danger of blaspheming the word of God—“to love their husbands.” The Bible says, “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin” (James 4:17). Hopefully you just didn’t realize that your lack of sexual interest in y … [Read more...]

Part 1: A New Hope

homechurches

by Living Liminal cross posted from her blog Living LiminalPlease welcome a great new addition to SASBN - Living Liminal In late 2005, after many years attendance, my husband and I left the church where we had met and been married. We left with sadness because, although we had received from this church much which was good and life-giving, we had come to realize there was no longer a place for us there. (The senior pastor, himself, had declared this to be the case during one of his Sunday morning sermons!)  We knew we were not alone - there had been a steady exodus from this church for some time. The ‘my way or the highway’ approach to church leadership does tend to create casu … [Read more...]

There’s No Easy Way to Get “Well”

J.D.Salinger

by Lisa Kerr cross posted from her blog My Cult LifeA little more backstory on why I took an extended break from the blog:I became a recluse. I’m not about to compare myself to J.D. Salinger, but I will say I understand him. If you don’t know, he’s the author of The Catcher in the Rye. As his book’s popularity grew, Salinger withdrew from the public. He published less new work and cut off contact with people. … [Read more...]

Nightline Prime and Purity Balls

white-rose

by Samantha Field cross posted from her blog Defeating The Dragons I’ve seen a few documentaries about “Purity Balls” (which, every time I say that, my partner sniggers and I glare at him), and some are better than others. ABC’s Nightline Prime 20-minute documentary of the Wilson’s “14th Annual Father-Daughter Purity Ball” is not one of the better ones. The interviewer seemed to be either amused or baffled, and the only questions featured during the program seem to indicate a lack of awareness of what the underlying culture is– although she seemed to be catching on toward the end. … [Read more...]

Why Protesting “Equal But Subordinate” is Not Just Me Having a Problem With Authority

subordinately equal

by Kristen Rosser cross posted from her blog Wordgazer's WordsI received some feedback in the comments on my last post regarding the logical fallacy of claiming women are equal and yet divinely intended for eternal subordination to men.  Here is a quote from the comments: … [Read more...]

Jack Schaap Asks For Vacated Sentence: Lawyers Didn’t Smear Victim

Jack Schaap feigning masturbation from the pulpit

by Bruce Gerencser cross posted from his blog The Way Forward(Editor's note: This week at NLQ we've had a plethora of new commenters showing up defending Jack Schaap, calling the victim all sorts of naughty names before being auto-banned. The nicer ones were allowed to post comments and to a man they all are repeating the same thing verbatim about how the victim should be punished too. Outrageous and it looks like this plan of attack was organized by the Independent Fundamentalist Baptist Church, not just Schaap's followers. This is what hard-core spiritual abuse sanctioned by a church looks like. That a church could be involved in tearing apart a young girl is beyond disgusting.) … [Read more...]

Why Pulling Back Birth Control Availability Does Not Work (A Response To Ladies Against Feminism)

birthcontrol

by Lana Hope cross posted from her blog Wide Open GroundLadies Against Feminism posted this link about birth control, showing that contraception does not cut back on abortions. “Contraception reduces unintended pregnancies” has joined its fantastic make-believe friends “death with dignity,” the “efficacy” of embryonic stem cells, the “certainty” of man-made global warming, and the “positive” multiplier effect in the leftist vernacular. This quote alone is a red flare. As if everything from the left is a lie, and everything from the right is true. … [Read more...]

The Logical Fallacy of “Equal But Subordinate”

subordinately equal

by Kristen Rosser cross posted from her blog Wordgazer's Words Julie Anne over at Spiritual Sounding Board has drawn the blogosphere's attention this week to an article that the Council for Biblical Manhood and Womanhood ("CBMW") posted in its Spring 2006 Journal entitled "Relationships and Roles in the New Creation," written by Mark David Walton. Spiritual Sounding Board put up its first post on this dated March 12, 2014, and the CBMW has since removed this article from its website.  However, this screen shot captures the withdrawn article. … [Read more...]

Behind The Mask: Why We Join Patriarchy & Mask Our True Selves

behindthemask

by Suzanne Titkemeyer cross posted from her blog True Love Doesn't RapeHave you ever asked yourself exactly how women get into fundamentalist-patriarchy Christianity and why they stay? What emotional payoff are they getting? What drives the desire to completely immerse oneself into a system that devalues you as a human? Giving up all autonomy for the sake of male rule? … [Read more...]
