News: Joel Osteen, Briston Palin & Steven Anderson: When Cults Attack

Already it's been an interesting start to the week of news in the world of Quiverfull and associated parts of Christianity. Plus it is only Monday. No telling what exactly this week holds.First up: Members of the cult-esque Church of Wells interrupted Joel Osteen's sermon at Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas yesterday. While this might not necessarily be big news, it was surprising who the hecklers are. Church of Wells has been embroiled in controversy in the past. Remember the Arkansas woman, Catherine Grove, and her parents concern when she disappeared into the Church of Wells community and was no longer able to communicate with anyone? … [Read More...]

Preparing To Be A Help Meet: Part Five – Fleas

by Mel cross posted from her blog When Cows and Kids CollideLast bit on Patricia.... That brings us to Lesson Three. In the back of my mind I began to wonder if the fleas might be God's way of getting my attention concerning my lack of honor toward my husband. But I reasoned that at this point the flea thing might still, maybe, be a happenstance-just a fluke. I agree with you, Patricia. The flea incidents were random and not divine punishment. … [Read More...]

Quoting Quiverfull – Part 9 – Homeschoolers Embracing The World?

by Michael Pearl from No Greater Joy - Jumping Ship Part 2Editor's note: Michael starts off again on his imaginary seafaring ship before shifting to bragging about the things he's righteously accomplished in his life, right down to wooing and marrying his victim... errr.. wife Debi.  Puke warning: he also talks about wanting a women to smell and touch several times. … [Read More...]

Jane Eyre’s Sisters – NLQ Book Review

by Suzanne TitkemeyerJane Eyre's Sisters: How Women Live and Write the Heroine's Story by Jody Gentian BowerI have to admit, I wasn't sure what this book was going to be about beyond how women write about the lives of other women from classic literature. If the focus had been only on the lives of women writers and the influence of society on their writings from the time of Jane Austen I would have been well satisfied. But this book was far richer in scope, opening up to me critical thinking about women, our roles in family, society and life. … [Read More...]

Lisa Cherry and Frontline Family Ministries: “Gay Marriage Is The New Roe V. Wade”

By R.L. Stollar, HA Community Coordinator cross posted from Homeschoolers AnonymousToday, on the heels of Obergefell v. Hodges, the Supreme Court ruling in favor of marriage equality, Lisa Cherry and her organization Frontline Family Ministries sent an “OFFICIAL STATEMENT” to their email list. The statement begins with a large image comparing yesterday’s marriage equality decision with the infamous 1972 Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade legalizing abortion:The statement (which you can view in full as a PDF here) begins with declaring full opposition to the Supreme Court ruling: … [Read More...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Part 8 – Homeschoolers Embracing The World?

by Michael Pearl from No Greater Joy - Jumping Ship Part 2Editor's note: Warning! Lots of bad seafaring analogies ahoy! With a title like 'Jumping Ship' it was bound to happen. Wonder if Michael realizes that in many big ships of the past many times the crew had been kidnapped or Shanghaied from other places to serve as indentured servants upon the sea. Keeping children home in what amounts to indentured servitude isn't much better. … [Read More...]

Evangelical Mega-Churches Using Facial Recognition Software to Keep Track of Parishioners

by Bruce Gerencser cross posted from his blog The Life and Times of Bruce GerencserEditor's note: While this is not directly Quiverfull related it's a creepy privacy-invading new thing in mega churches with possible frighting implications and usages. Excerpt from Why Are Churches Using Creepy Face Recognition Technology? by Valerie Tarico: Churches just got a new way to figure out who is sleeping in on Sunday morning: facial recognition software that scans the congregation and records who showed up. Churchix is a product of Skakash LLC, which sells Face-Six for law enforcement, border control, and commercial applications. According to CEO Moshe Greenshpan, in the 4 months since the … [Read More...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Part 7 – Homeschoolers Embracing The World?

by Michael Pearl from No Greater Joy - Jumping Ship Part 2Editor's note: Shorter version of Michael Pearl: Everyone, and I mean everyone, is a dirty, nasty, whore-y potential Sodomite sinner. He doesn't believe what most of us know, that if you repression or control your children too much that they will rebel at some point. Plus that sexual repression always emerges later in the weirdest ways. Towards the end you realize this is also all about selling copies of his vile child beating manual "To Train Up A Child." It's a walking, talking, fear-mongering never ending commercial pitch. Michael Pearl and his never ending shaming others journey because 'God' told him to do it. … [Read More...]

Answering “Preparing To Be A Help Meet” – How Have You Spent Your Pre-Marriage Days?

Another installment of giving better answers to the questions asked at Debi Pearl’s site message board for the book ‘Preparing To Be A Help Meet’. Many young ladies ask questions on all sorts of different subjects brought up by the book. There was just one big problem, many of the answers stray into either the outright bad and emotionally unhealthy to dangerous. Yes, typical Debi Pearl borderline abusive. Here’s what we’re going to be doing here at NLQ. Every week, once or twice a week, I’ll be posting up one of the questions from the message board and ask you, our readers, to answer that poor soul’s question in a way that is logical, rational and the best possible solution, in other words 18 … [Read More...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Part 6 – Homeschoolers Embracing The World?

by Michael Pearl from No Greater Joy - Jumping Ship Part 2Editor's note: Now Michael is responding to questions from his earlier posting on this subject. More doubling down on sin in other folks homes. Plus that whole old Christian martyrbating belief that the Devil is literally under ever bush seeking to feast on some poor helpless young adult former homeschooler. That old Devil is a busy dude the way they talk about him. This is part two of Michael's five part series on SGA jumping the family ship. Like part one at the end of each multi part bit we'll take a couple of days QQ breather  from the series before going on to the next part. It's just simply too toxic to do in one fell … [Read More...]

News: Does A Jill and Derick Dillard MInistry Mean The End Of “19 Kids & Counting?

Shortly after this morning's posting about Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard leaving the Duggar Compound to form a ministry and work in Nepal this interesting bit popped up on TMZ - Jill Dillard -- I'm On a Mission And Not For '19 Kids & Counting' It points out something obvious that no one has considered or at least commented on in public - that the Dillards mission in Nepal and new ministry registered in Little Rock, Arkansas means that TLC's purposed plans to retool the show around Jill and Jessa plus perspective spouses isn't going to happen. Reportedly "19 Kids & Counting" is moribund and has almost no chance of resurrection and reappearance on TLC's line up. … [Read More...]

Duggar News: Are Jill & Derick Moving Away From The Duggar Family?

The Duggars are also in trouble with the American public over a posting they made on Friday after the Supreme Court ruling on marriage equality and there's more speculation over worries about a possible Josh Duggar suicide.First news of Jill and Derick Dillard starting a ministry away from the Duggar family and their television show "19 Kids & Counting" This article makes it sound like perhaps this is the first real break-aways from the Duggar family compound.
