Created To Need A Help Meet – Part 4 Obey Indeed? (Love Never Enslaves!)

by Aletha cross posted from her blog Yllom Mormonp 177-178Today we're distinguishing between women being subservient to their husbands, and women being subservient to all men everywhere. Oh, and the fact that Michael thinks women and children deserve dignity. Cuz that was news to me. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Control Your Reactions?

by Adam Gregorian of - How Our Reactions Define UsEditor's note: You remember Mr. Gregorian, do you not? He was the one that was oh so creepily posting photos of clearly underage girls in revealing outfits and clucking about their slutty immodesty at his website His old site has been hacked by an Islamic militant group now and most of his other misogynistic sites are down, with the exception of this one. Here he is riffing on one of Lori Alexander's posts that promotes Debi Pearl's abusive book 'Created To Be A Help Meet'. Tomorrow morning we'll examine Lori's post that led to this one. Yes, at Gregorian's original post he has photos of underage girls in … [Read more...]

Saying NO

by Kaleesha Williams cross posted from her blog The Lost (and Found) Mind of Kaleesha WilliamsI just told off a car full of elderly Jehovah’s Witness women. Wow. I have never had the guts to do that before. I usually politely listen to their thing and just wait for them to go away. They are human beings, after all.Okay, maybe a bit of a stretch to say I told them off. I was only slightly rude. I was brief. I firmly told them I was uninterested, that I am an atheist, that I’d believed that stuff for a decade and a half and was done. Then, without waiting for a rebuttal, I turned on my heel and walked back the garden where I’d been mowing. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: What is the ‘Proverbs 31 Woman’?

by Nancy Campbell of Above Rubies - Let's Get The True PictureEditor's note: Nancy willfully misinterprets the Bible yet again. I don't know what version she's reading but the Proverb 31 Woman does not read like some simpering sap staying home all day homeschooling her kids and having no opinions or creative ways to add to the family finances. And "Watchwoman"? That is a new one on me. … [Read more...]

Update: Mother of Boy Rescued From Gorilla Enclosure Thanks God

On Sunday Michelle Gregg praised God for delivering her son from the gorilla pit. Michelle is the mother of 4 year old Isaiah Gregg - the boy that climbed over a barrier, under a wire, through a hedge before leaping 12 feet down into a moat in the Cincinnati Zoo's Gorilla enclosure. Here's her Facebook status giving God the credit, with zero mention of the difficult decision made by the zoo staff or the emts involved in the rescue. It's since been taken down. It seems almost blase and callous in light of what happened to the gorilla involved. … [Read more...]

It’s Not That Complicated: Part 3 Chapter 9

by Mel cross posted from her blog When Cows and Kids CollideAll quotes from the Botkin's book will be in blue text.Today's post covers the Botkin Sisters' views on women's intelligence.  To no one's surprise who has managed to read this far, the Botkin view of women's intelligence is determined entirely how she makes a man feel.I find this entire section gross, FYI. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Stay Home or God Will Dry Up Your Womb?

by Nancy Campbell of Above Rubies - MisplacedEditor's note: There is so much fear mongering and discouraging threats in this piece that I had a hard time figuring which horrible idea to use as the title. One of the worse pieces I've seen from this ministry with threats about what God will do and how Satan will steal away your children away if you work outside of the home. A road map for making mothers very fearful. Oh, and Nancy is also doing her less than stellar Biblical word interpretations as well. … [Read more...]

Daffodils of Integration: First Promise of Joy Through Recovery

by Cindy Kunsman cross posted from her blog Under Much Grace James Taylor's melancholy Fire and Rain which laments the unexpected loss of a friend, and I now think of the loss of integration of trauma when I hear him sing “sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground.”In a way, that is what trauma does to us. Our dreams break apart, perhaps because they weren't very realistic but sometimes because we don't have time to realize them because we're so busy trying to figure out how to put ourselves back together. Sometimes, we just can't recover all that we've lost. Sometimes, we lose our ability to fly because the pieces lay on the ground, smashed and broken because of what hap … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Part 2 – Biblical Marriage is not State Marriage

by Michael Pearl from No Greater Joy - Excerpt from 'The Bible on Divorce and Remarriage'Editor's note: So here Michael is trying to explain if you state that you are marrying and pray over it then it's just as valid a marriage as those performed with those pesky government-controlled state licenses. But have conjugal relations without that statement of covenant to marry and it's mere fornication. Sorry Mike, no marriage license and it's not legally a marriage no matter how you wave your Bible around. … [Read more...]

When Quiverfull Parenting Ideas and Theology Fail – Too Many Children to Supervise?

This morning there were a number of media outlets reporting on a disturbing incident that happened yesterday at the Cincinnati, Ohio Zoo. A four year old child somehow managed to climb a fence,  squeeze into the gorilla enclosure before falling roughly 12 feet down into the moat. A male Silverback gorilla named Harambe waded into the wade, took hold of the boy and was hauling him around roughly by the arm. The zookeepers had to make the difficult decision to kill Harambe, who is an endangered species, to rescue the boy. The boy is hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries and expected to make a full recovery. … [Read more...]

Answering ‘Preparing To Be A Help Meet’ – Never Alone With A Guy?

Another installment of giving better answers to the questions asked at Debi Pearl’s site message board for the book ‘Preparing To Be A Help Meet’. Many young ladies ask questions on all sorts of different subjects brought up by the book. There was just one big problem, many of the answers stray into either the outright bad and emotionally unhealthy to dangerous. Yes, typical Debi Pearl borderline abusive. Here’s what we’re going to be doing here at NLQ. Every week, once or twice a week, I’ll be posting up one of the questions from the message board and ask you, our readers, to answer that poor soul’s question in a way that is logical,  rational and the best possible solution, in other words 1 … [Read more...]
