Quoting Quiverfull: Christian Women Prettier?

by Doug Wilson from Blog and Mablog - On Why Christian Women Are PrettierEditor's note: Wilson tries to claim in this piece that Christian women are more beautiful because they were created as God's glory and that they keep this glory by their good works, not plastic surgery, not expensive products or good genetics but by works. Again, women reduced down to a small subset of their true potential. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Unbelieving Women Are Either Sluts or Lesbians?

by Doug Wilson of Blog and Mablog - On Why Christian Women Are PrettierEditor's note: This is the father of the lady that claimed so many not nice things about 'Evangelical Feminists'. It's obvious the apple didn't fall very from from the parental tree. Wilson is claiming that Christian women are always so much more attractive than non believers because Bible and lumping everyone else in two different categories 'easy lay' or 'lumberjack dykes' I don't remember anything in the Bible that puts women in such tiny limited roles. … [Read more...]

“Lies Women Believe” Review 135 – 167

by Samantha Field cross posted from her blog Samantha P Field.comThis week’s Lies Women Believe review covers the chapter I’ve been dreading– the chapter on marriage. It was as horrific as I was expecting, and re-reading the sections I’d highlighted when I was in abusive relationship with a rapist made me sick all over again. I know this for a fact: the ideas Nancy argues for in this book keep women in abusive relationships. So, let’s dig into this miasmic pile of filth, shall we? … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: A Tax on Working Mothers?

by Biblical Gender Roles at Biblical Gender Roles.com – Lindsey Graham Says We Need to Import Other Country’s(SIC) ChildrenEditor's note: So this is more from the piece we quoted last week involving Lindsay Graham saying we would need to import workers to offset the coming large number of baby boomers retiring. In this part BGR's wants the government and our tax system to reward Quiverfull families with lots of children and stay at home mothers, while penalizing any mother with children that does dare to work outside of the home. There's nothing taking into account the fact that for many families, even those where the mother would like to stay home with the children or feels massive gui … [Read more...]

God Burns My Kids To Show Himself?

by Joe Sands cross posted from his blog Incongruous CircumspectionOriginally posted April 2012A week ago, my 1 year old daughter dumped a scalding hot thermos of coffee down the front of her shirt.  It was entirely my fault and I was devastated.  Luckily, her burns were only minor with two small spots where it burned through to the fourth dermis layer.  It has healed quickly and she is on the fast track to recovery.  Unfortunately, the lasting effect is that we have to monitor the worst areas for the next two years so they don't get sunburned.  Then, we're home free.  The doctors do not expect any scarring, which is the most important factor to me. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Evangelical Feminists Are Worse Than Controlling Patriarchs?

by Rebekah Merkle (Doug Wilson's daughter) from Femina Girls - My Brush With FeminismEditor's note: While parts of this blog posting make good points, such as swearing off wearing dresses because of some clueless patriarch type, there's also a bit of poisonous name calling, blaming and reducing others to bad caricatures. What do you think? She spends some of her blog posting making fun of people being triggered badly, something that many of us here who've walked out of QF regularly get to experience. … [Read more...]

The Secret of a Successful Marriage, Not Really

by Bruce Gerencser cross posted from his blog The Life and Times of Bruce Gerencser(Editor's note: While this post does not have a lot of Quiverfull content I felt like it was important to publish the story of someone that was able to leave the QF life and keep their marriage together. We know from the many tales here that keeping a marriage together post leaving the life is a rare thing indeed. Having met both Bruce and Polly I can say they are both wonderful people.)Those of us raised in the Evangelical church have seen countless books titled like this post. Authors think that they have figured out a part of life and are qualified to dispense advice about it.  Every book takes the … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Part 4 – Child Extortionists?

by Michael Pearl from No Greater Joy - Twinkie TwerpEditor's note: Cannot believe anyone thinks that the only way to get rid of sugar addiction in a child or a cranky demand for a snack is to pull out a quarter inch piece of plumbing line and whack the child hard with it. The sad thing is that there are many people in the Quiverfull movement that follow Michael Pearl's harmful child training advice. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Part 3 – Child Extortionists?

by Michael Pearl from No Greater Joy - Twinkie TwerpEditor's note: And we get to the heart of the nasty matter - apply the spanking, but only after being emotionally cruel to the child. Beat your child until his will is broken. Unless he is able to name-call a child something insulting followed by beating the child with a piece of plumbing pipe Mr. Pearl isn't happy … [Read more...]

Answering ‘Preparing To Be A Help Meet’ – Are Feelings Of Love Just Hormones?

Another installment of giving better answers to the questions asked at Debi Pearl’s site message board for the book ‘Preparing To Be A Help Meet’. Many young ladies ask questions on all sorts of different subjects brought up by the book. There was just one big problem, many of the answers stray into either the outright bad and emotionally unhealthy to dangerous. Yes, typical Debi Pearl borderline abusive. Here’s what we’re going to be doing here at NLQ. Every week, once or twice a week, I’ll be posting up one of the questions from the message board and ask you, our readers, to answer that poor soul’s question in a way that is logical, rational and the best possible solution, in other words 18 … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Part 2 – Child Extortionists?

by Michael Pearl from No Greater Joy - Twinkie TwerpsEditor's note: Please excuse the lateness of this piece. I am traveling again and experiencing indifferent internet at various places.More of Michael Pearl mistaking normal childhood behavior and needs for sin and manipulation. It's horribly telling that Michael considers a child asking for food more of a 'character development' issue than what it likely is, a need, either physical or emotional, that must be met. Why the mother did not redirect the child by doing something like involving him in helping her prepare a snack for all the children by cutting the twinkie into equal portions and possibly adding items? There are so many … [Read more...]

Two Male Patrick Henry College Students Blame Females For Their Lust

by Bruce Gerencser cross posted from his blog The Life and Times of Bruce GerencserAs I have shared before, Evangelical young men are taught that they are weak, pathetic creatures easily led astray by mere exposure to too much female flesh. A little cleavage or a tight blouse has led many an Evangelical man to the slaughter.  Instead of being taught to own and control their sexuality, many Evangelical men whine, moan, and complain about women “tempting” them to sin. Well, the moaning part is them masturbating after seeing too much of Sister Sue. Let me give an example of this kind of thinking. A year ago, Homeschooler’s Anonymous published a 2006 letter written by two Patrick Henry Colleg … [Read more...]
