Quoting Quiverfull: Force Your Body To Turn On, Or Just Fake That Orgasm?

by Biblical Gender Roles at Biblical Gender Roles.com - How Can a Husband Enjoy Sex That is Grudgingly Given by His Wife?Editor's note: As always we're linking to Dood Obsessed With His Penis through Do Not Link.com. No need to inflate his ego any larger by increasing his Google rankings, which he's crowed about several times in his blog. Okay, this is getting even weirder than usual, first he says that women need to focus on their bodies being ready for sex and follows that by saying she should fake her orgasm if she's not turned on. Translation: he does not care if she enjoys it as long as Mr. Happy gets off. … [Read more...]

Created To Need A Help Meet – Part 8 Mr. Steady (You’re Valuable, But Nobody Cares or Notices)

by Aletha cross posted from her blog Yllom Mormonp 99-101I've made mention of this earlier, but this section is more pronounced. It seems that Michael has very little respect for a Mr. Steady. Possibly because he views himself as Command/Visionary? I'm not sure, but the more I read in this chapter, the stronger that feeling gets. Let me know if you agree/disagree.Text is in purple … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Michael Pearl Invented ‘Healthy’ Patriarchy?

by Michael Pearl from No Greater Joy - The Balanced PatriarchEditor's note: Even as far back as 2009 Michael was throwing shade at Bill Gothard and Doug Phillips over their patriarchal teachings, well before the news that both men are sexual predators emerged. The original article has a longer version of the history of patriarchy and society's problems, but we're picking up the history at the time that the Pearls claim they started practicing it. Lots of blaming others per usual.  … [Read more...]

The Not-So-Ridiculous Reasons People Leave Church

by Samantha Field cross posted from her blog Samantha P FieldEvery once in a while, someone I know on Facebook will share a joke or a meme that makes me grit my teeth because it makes me feel dismissed. Most recently it was this one: … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Characteristics of ‘Good’ Patriarchs?

by Michael Pearl from No Greater Joy - The Balanced PatriarchEditor's note: So how many of these characteristics listed below have we actually seen at work in the writings of the Pearls? From here it looks like very few, that most of the characteristics pushed in the various writings by the Pearls line up more with the 'Bad' list. … [Read more...]

“Lies Women Believe” Review: 193 – 214

by Samantha Field cross posted from her blog Samantha P FieldI didn’t think it would be possible to be happy about writing another segment of my Lies Women Believe review, but it is 100x better than dealing with being hacked. I’m pretty sure we’re all good for now, and I am crossing my fingers that never happens again. This week is Nancy’s chapter on emotions, and part of me just wants to refer you to the How to Win Over Depression review, because it covers a lot of the same ground. But, she throws in her own twists, so let’s tackle them. The first problem is the gender segregation: … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Characteristics of ‘Bad’ Patriarchs?

by Michael Peal of No Greater Joy - The Balanced PatriarchEditor's note: I wish I had a graphic of a full coffee cup smashing to the ground and splattering because that was my personal reaction to this list of characteristics of 'bad' patriarchs written by Michael Pearl. His list includes many things that he has espoused in his writings through the years. This is from 2009 answering a letter from someone claiming his book and article series that we featured early in the year 'Jumping Ship' only teaches children rebellion. Next up: the characteristics of a 'Good' patriarch. How deluded can one man possibly be? … [Read more...]

First Look at Jessa and Jill Duggar on TLC’s ‘Counting On’

About an hour ago The Learning Channel shared the first look video on the new Duggar television show 'Counting On'. The show will be focusing on missionary wanna-bes, Jill Duggar Dillard and her husband Derick Dillard and her sister Jessa Duggar Seawald and her husband and all around Jim Bob Duggar go-fer Ben Seawald. What struck me the most about this video snippet, besides the fact that Jill is crying again over the actions of her brother Josh, is Jessa Duggar Seawald's lips. I kept staring and rewatching in horrified fascination because it looks to me like someone has had lip filler injections. Please, someone tell me this is just my imagination, pretty pretty please? … [Read more...]

How Parents’ Intolerance of a Child’s Immaturity Creates Both Victims and Abusers

by Cindy Kunsman cross posted from her blog Under Much More GraceOriginally published January 2012. This is part of a series on Understanding How Emotional Development in Childhood Affects Adults: Fostering Spiritual Abuse via the “Roots of Victimization” All images originals from Under Much More Grace. As noted earlier concerning the natural characteristics of children, the parent's proper respect for and care of a child's immaturity builds the basis for self control in their adulthood and helps them learn how to effectively manage and govern their lives as adults. This mastery, a characteristic of maturity, also provides for a healthy sense of spontaneity. Healthy maturity involves rel … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: God Is At Your Table?

by Nancy Campbell from Above Rubies - Whose Table?Editor's note: Another place that Nancy is claiming that you have to be perfect at because God is there in your home. Your table. So how does that work when your table is piled high with homeschooling supplies or is the catch all for the things you don't have time to handle? Or perhaps you never eat at your pristine table? It seems that more and more Nancy is grappling for more ways to keep women fearful and anxious over every aspect of their home or lives not being 'good enough' She really loves to come up with strange notions to fear-monger with. … [Read more...]

Answering ‘Preparing To Be A Help Meet’ – How To Handle A Command Man?

Another installment of giving better answers to the questions asked at Debi Pearl’s site message board for the book ‘Preparing To Be A Help Meet’. Many young ladies ask questions on all sorts of different subjects brought up by the book. There was just one big problem, many of the answers stray into either the outright bad and emotionally unhealthy to dangerous. Yes, typical Debi Pearl borderline abusive. Here’s what we’re going to be doing here at NLQ. Every week, once or twice a week, I’ll be posting up one of the questions from the message board and ask you, our readers, to answer that poor soul’s question in a way that is logical, rational and the best possible solution, in other words 18 … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Having A Job Is Restful?

by Nancy Campbell from Above Rubies - Don't Give Up Halfway Through!Editor's note: Has Nancy ever worked outside of the home? Even before she had kids? If she had she would have realized just how wrong she is about work. It's not 'restful', unless perhaps you work in a sleep lab as a guinea pig. People usually do not get jobs to get the heck away from their children. It's usually because they need the extra money coming in, not for some ridiculous reason that Nancy likes to invent. What silly ideas she has. … [Read more...]
