Memories of Spanking

Sarah of Who I Am Without You blog has launched a new interesting project and she needs your help. She is compiling a collection of stories, letters and poems for a special album on her site. She would love anyone who feels lead to participate in this project.  Submissions should be between one hundred and three hundred words on the subject of spanking and how it's affected you. It is Sarah's hope that young parents considering using corporal punishment on their young children see the album and at least think about the long term damage it can cause. For more information visit Who I Am Without You: Still Crying … [Read more...]

About The Spiritual Abuse Survivor Blogs Network

screen-capture

The Spiritual Abuse Survivor Blogs Network is a project of Vyckie Garrison and the guest writers at No Longer Quivering. The network began when Vyckie noticed that NLQ forum member, Libby Anne, seemed to be doing a lot of processing of her quiverfull experience through frequent posts and comments. She encouraged Libby Anne to write her story for NLQ - which she did - and in the process, discovered that she loves blogging!Around that time, due to on-going health issues, Vyckie was struggling to keep the No Longer Quivering site updated and rarely was able to write any new content herself. Recognizing Libby Anne's blogging potential as an opportunity to continue raising awareness of … [Read more...]

Religious Fundamentalism and Sexuality Project

I'm posting here a short bit from Sierra's blog - the phoenix and the olive branch - about a new project she is undertaking. It's called the Religious Fundamentalism and Sexuality Project. Below are the questions and the guidelines for the project.  Borrowing the format of Libby Anne’s Raised Quiverfull project, I’ll be posting each question and its set of answers multiple times a week, star … [Read more...]

No Longer Quivering

Vyckie

Who are we and why are we no longer quivering?Vyckie Garrison started No Longer Quivering to tell the story of her “escape” from the Quiverfull movement. For many years Vyckie lived the Quiverfull lifestyle, seeking to have as many 'blessings' (babies) as the Lord would allow her. Those pregnancies were against medical advice and she nearly lost her life on several occasions. During those years she did it all (or attempted to), all the proper things that fundamental patriarchy deems a righteous quivering woman should do. She home schooled, had a newsletter supporting the principles of the Quiverfull movement, raised obedient Christian children and submitted to her husband. Until she cou … [Read more...]

by CaluluJust posted the latest installment of Millipede's story up on our new Patheos space at http://www.patheos.com/blogs/nolongerquivering/2012/05/millipede-part-3/Our space at Patheos is a work in progress. As you can see there are no links to our suggested reading list, or our forums or pictures of Vyckie or anything remotely like what you see here.  It's not because we're doing away with those things, not at all, but because Vyckie and I are still in the process of editing the new space, trying to construct a more user-friendly version of NLQ. We really want NLQ to be an easy to navigate site chock full of information on leaving dangerous situations of spiritual abuse.I … [Read more...]
