Is Child Sexual Abuse Rampant in Evangelical Quiverfull Type Christianity?

by Suzanne TitkemeyerI am starting to believe that the situation in the Duggar family is far more widespread than everyone seems to think.  Much of the secular world reacted in horror at first. But now evidence is starting to emerge that seems to indicate this is an epidemic, not a isolated incident. Exactly how many connected to the Duggar family will be exposed as having sexually abused a child?Yesterday it was announced that Mike Huckabee's co-writer on two of his books, John Perry, has been accused of child sexual abuse in two separate law suits. Perry's ex wife has alleged that Perry admitted to the molestation in her divorce legal filing. This begs the question of why? Why … [Read more...]

A Movement Much Bigger Than My Parents

by Lana Hope cross posted from her blog Wide Open Ground originally posted May 2013Heather of Becoming Worldly put together a post today that gave me physical tears and a knot in my stomach. Lourdes, Lifeboats, and Bounded Choice: The Complicated Process of Exiting Totalist Groups Part 1

by Cindy Kunsman cross posted from The Spiritual Sounding BoardAfter reading the account of the Lourdes Torres-Manteufel abuse by Vision Forum founder, Doug Phillips, Cindy Kunsman reflects on her own sex abuse story.Note from Julie Anne:  I remember talking to Cindy Kunsman around the time the Lourdes Torres-Manteufel lawsuit was made public.
