Quoting Quiverfull: Better Start Fearing?

by Nancy Campbell from Above Rubies - Are We Willing?Editor's note: One thing you can count on is that Nancy pushes the fear and guilt button repeatedly in most of her posts. It's all about how you cannot possibly be doing things right. Where's all the joy and happiness she keeps saying that is everywhere in Quiverfull? All I'm seeing is some world class fear mongering. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: You Are Not Holy Enough?

by Nancy Campbell from Above Rubies - What's Your Norm?Editor's note: One of Nancy's most constant themes is 'You are not doing it right!' She tries to invoke guilt, fear and panic among her followers by pretending no one but her is Godly enough. It is not a very emotionally healthy thing to walk around in a constant state of fear and guilt. … [Read more...]

This is the introduction I gave to those who don't know me, and I thought it would serve well as an introduction to the blog series, too... … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Cats Are Better Mothers Than Feminists?

by Nancy Campbell of Above Rubies - Inborn InstinctivenessEditor's note: There are several things about this post that just make my blood boil. 1. The phrase "And she is only an animal." as if the little cat is somehow a lesser being than Nancy and 2. the idea that working mothers that have to leave their children to be nurtured by others are not as maternal as her outdoor kitty. How insulting all the way around! Run, kitty, run! … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Judging Others Reproductive Choices Meanly?

by Kelly Crawford from Generation Cedar - 7 Misconceptions About Moms of Large FamiliesEditor's note: Do people actually walk up to moms of many and say these things to their faces? I have a hard time believing that they do, except I do know that Quiverfull moms have no trouble telling people in the church with small families, either by choice or because of fertility issues, any number of very ugly judgmental things about their lack of children. Here's a thought, perhaps no one on either side needs to publicly say stupid things to each other about the number of children they have. Oh yeah, that would mean that the QF crowd would have to shut their mouths about the infertile too. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Large Families Have Plenty of Individualized Time With Each Child?

by Kelly Crawford from Generation Cedar - 7 Misconceptions About Moms of Large FamiliesEditor's note: Yes, I will agree with Kelly that the demands of a large family are different than a small family, but that's as far as I would go. My own mother was one of twelve in a Catholic QF family and to this day at age 75 still complains about the lack of attention and love of her mother because of the large family. Things like that wound and stay with you for the rest of your life. It's statistically and mathematically impossible to give as much one on one attention to one of twelve versus one of two or three. … [Read more...]
