Before You Meet Prince Charming: Part 3 Chapter 2

by Mel cross posted from her blog When Cows and Kids CollideAll quotes from Sarah Mally's book 'Before You Meet Prince Charming' in blue text.Let's see if I can remember what's happened so far in the chapter.  First, we were horrified by a creepy-as-hell rose analogy for emotional purity.  Next, we learned that Christians marry non-Christians because of dating with a variety of nonsensical reasons to support that assertion. … [Read more...]

Leaving the Pulpit – Dear Wendy

by Bruce Gerencser cross posted from his blog The Life and Times of Bruce GerencserAll images by Bruce Gerencser and used with permissionDear Wendy,You have contacted me several times in recent years via Facebook, hoping to reconnect with the man you once called Pastor. Shockingly, you found out that I am no longer a Christian; that I no longer believe the Bible is the Word of God; that I proudly self-identify as an atheist and a humanist. This movie did that, and I enjoyed it.I’d have to watch the movie a few more times in order to be able to comment on the arguments for and against the existence of God. I might need to take notes or something — which is hard to do in a theater, so we won’t get into those arguments. … [Read more...]

Iron Sharpeneth Iron, Part One

by Samantha cross posted from her blog Defeating The Dragons “I’m really worried about her.” I was laying in my bed, staring up at my ceiling, envisioning all the different situations one of my dearest friends could find herself in, now that she was living in the downtown of a big city, far away from people she knew and the community she’d grown up in. Handsome was on the phone, listening to my concerns. … [Read more...]
