News and views on all-things Muslim for April 27- May 4, 2015.

This week, between #BaltimoreUprising and Pamela Geller, it has been almost too much for me.  But I managed to find enough links to make you smile and maybe even laugh (I hope).

I give to you newsworthy links I think you should know about. Check out the links and please let me know if you think I should add anything

News About Muslims:

On Sunday, May 2, 2 gunmen killed outside Mohammed ‘art event’ in Texas. So Pamela Geller hosted a controversial Mohammed art event dedicated to “free speech”. Two gunmen have been shot and killed in a parking lot outside a venue in Garland, Texas that had been. Sigh.

More needless deaths. US-led air strike in Syria accidentally kills 52 civilians. The air raid mistakenly struck civilians in a village in Aleppo.

I don’t know if this is about “Muslims” but Senior female ISIS agent unmasked and traced to Seattle. @_UmmWaqqas (Twitter) was revealed to have been set up and operated by Rawdah Abdisalaam, a twenty-something female believed to be from Seattle.

Articles by Muslims:

The unfortunate incident in Texas has left us all feeling defeated and depressed. I read Don’t be fooled by Pamela Geller by Haroon Mohgul and immediately felt better.  This line says it all: “After the attack, she didn’t call for dialogue, for understanding, for bringing people together, which is what real leaders do.”

An astute piece by Muna Mire. Please read Towards a Black Muslim Ontology of Resistance when you can. Excerpt: “The reality for today’s Black Muslims is bifurcated into a war fought on two fronts: a battle with one’s own community to be seen and respected as well as a battle to resist targeted state and vigilante violence.”
