Purify

sunshine

By Sunweaver About this time last year, I was having a walking meditation/ conversation with Apollo. This is not an uncommon thing for me to do and I often have the best conversations with my gods this way. I talk about my puny mortal problems and the Theoi graciously humor me, often offering very helpful guidance and often rather unhelpful but true guidance as well. This particular conversation mainly consisted of me babbling and Apollo saying pretty much one thing: Purify. It was not … [Read more...]

Group Ritual to Acknowledge Miscarriage

mizuko4

This ritual is designed as a ceremony of healing and empowerment following miscarriage. It is based on a ritual that I had following my own miscarriages in 2010. Anyone who has experienced miscarriage and who would like to acknowledge the impact on her life is welcome. So too are those who would like to act as witnesses and keepers of sacred space for those who grieve. The simple altar is laid outdoors on the ground near an already dug hole (for planting a tree). It contains a small bowl, a … [Read more...]

Support during miscarriage

The Amethyst Network

Whenever I've written here or on Facebook about pregnancy loss, I've heard a clear request for more support for Pagans experiencing loss, specifically support that isn't overwhelmingly Christian in language and ideas. I think The Amethyst Network is one organization that can help. Their mission is to provide doula support and "to break the social taboo surrounding talking about miscarriage, and to support, advocate, educate, comfort, and share our stories of loss, grief, and hope." I find it … [Read more...]

She did what she could…

february-2013-148

She did what she could. She acted. She didn't just think about acting. She didn't act out of obligation. She didn't let others act for her. She didn't wait to be invited. --Elisa Morgan (in Refuse To Do Nothing) The Patheos Book Club is currently discussing the new book Refuse To Do Nothing: Finding Your Power to Abolish Modern-Day Slavery. The book is a quick read focused on human trafficking throughout the world. While acknowledging the gravity and depth of the situation, … [Read more...]

Moontime

“…imagine what our lives would be like, what the world would be like if every womoon could bleed and birth inside a sacred circle…” --Antiga in The Goddess Celebrates I've written about moontime several times on my Talk Birth blog in conjunction with a series that I call taking it to the body. Sarah's lovely collection of quotes for Wednesday Wisdom this week brought up musings about moontime that have been floating around for me over the past year. As I commented on her … [Read more...]
