August Link Round-Up: Linking generations through milk, blood, magic, and mentoring

Womanrunes

At the end of each month I look back over Facebook and Twitter to review the conversations we've had and the resources we've shared, and I compile the very best all in one blog post.August included celebrating World Breastfeeding Week and offering our congratulations to Molly Remer on her publication of Womanrunes. We also talked about Pagan groups raising funds to help unaccompanied minors who are entering the U.S.And as usual, we read some great articles around the web at the int … [Read more...]

July Link Round-Up: Body theology, parenting, loss, and the spiritual path

All The World

The Pagan Families facebook page gets lots of requests to share other pages and links. In order to maintain the quality and focus of the page, I only share them if they have something to do with Paganism and pregnancy/parenting/family life (you'd be surprised how far off-topic some requests are). There were plenty of great on-topic links in July:On being embodied:"She offers us the possibility of understanding and experiencing the menstrual cycle that we embody as kin to the cycle of mo … [Read more...]

Birth as a Spiritual Experience (Thesis Project)

“Here is your sacrament Take. Eat. this is my body this is real milk, thin, sweet, bluish, which I give for the life of the world… Here is your bread of life. Here is the blood by which you live in me.” --Robin Morgan (in Life Prayers, p. 148)“…When I say painless, please understand, I don’t mean you will not feel anything. Becoming a Woman – Book Review

becoming_ebook

I really wish I'd had a book on what it means to become a woman when I was 12. The only text I had was Judy Blume's generation defining book, Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. I wish that some one would have told me that my cycles would be erratic for a couple of years, not just in spacing, but in flow. Finding that out at a slumber party in the 8th grade was a deeply embarrassing experience (imagine having to knock on your friend's parents' bedroom door in the middle of the night, because … [Read more...]

Since Molly wrote about the benefit to paying close attention to the rhythms of her cycle, I wanted to share some practical resources for getting started.First, Taking Charge of Your Fertility is the best book I know on the subject. It can teach you how your cycle works, how to use evidence like basal body temperature and cervical fluid changes to get a really good understanding of your personal cycle, and how to implement that knowledge for birth control or pregnancy achievement. To put … [Read more...]

Red Tent Resources

"Blood Mysteries recall the immense power of the bleeding woman. Power enough to share in great nourishing give-aways. Give-away from woman womb to earth womb, give-away from mother to matrix, give-away of nourisher to nourisher...bleeding freely, we know ourselves as women, as nourishers of life..." --Susan Weed International Women's Day is coming up on March 8th and I signed up for a cool sounding free online class about working with your moon cycle. I'm loving the focus and I hope to learn … [Read more...]

Moontime

“…imagine what our lives would be like, what the world would be like if every womoon could bleed and birth inside a sacred circle…” --Antiga in The Goddess CelebratesI've written about moontime several times on my Talk Birth blog in conjunction with a series that I call taking it to the body. Sarah's lovely collection of quotes for Wednesday Wisdom this week brought up musings about moontime that have been floating around for me over the past year. As I commented on her post: I’m only rece … [Read more...]
