Check the exposure something’s wrong with this picture . . . . . . .

I can’t believe that I’m here on Patheos; posting next to The Pagan Soccer Mom and sharing bandwidth with Bristol Palin (please let there be a Holiday Party!). It’s all pretty awesome, and a little bit intimidating. Before going any further, I’ve got to give a huge thank you to Jason Pitzl-Waters for suggesting that I write for Patheos, and to Star Foster for giving me the opportunity. Star also created the kick-ass banner that adorns the top of this blog! Thank you both.

For those of you who read me over on Agora, “the history of holidays/things” types of posts will continue, but that’s just the beginning. I don’t sit still well, so there will be lots of “on the road” type posts from various Pagan Festivals and other places. There will also be pop culture pieces, interviews, music and book reviews, reflections on the joys of hard cider, and a whole host of other things. I see my faith in everything I do, and I’m looking forward to sharing that with you. My faith is one of joy and happiness, and while I’m not above editorializing now and then, I want Raise the Horns to reflect the smile that I get from being a Pagan.

In case you were wondering, I live in Northern California with my wife Ari and two small cats. I watch way too much football (Go Steelers!) and try to read a book every week or so. I’ve got a good thing going on out here, the gods have blessed me.

The title Raise the Horns is in reference to a lot of things: The Horned God, drinking horns (mmmm hard cider), heavy metal . . . . you can make up a few more I’m sure. It’s also another thing I owe Star for (that’s becoming a very big list), since she came up with the name. For those of you who have been with me since the “Deep Pagan Thoughts” days, nice to see you (and there was no way this blog was being named that). To everyone else, thanks for joining me on this adventure. I can’t promise to always be enlightening, but I’ll do my best to make sure the journey is never boring.

Here’s to life!

About Jason Mankey

Jason Mankey has been involved with Paganism for the last twenty years, and has spent the last ten of those years as a speaker, writer, and High Priest. Jason can often be found lecturing on the Pagan Festival circuit, so you might just bump into him. When not reading and researching Pagan history he likes to crank up the Led Zeppelin, do rituals in honor of Jim Morrison (of The Doors), and sing numerous praises to Pan, Dionysus, and Aphrodite. He lives in Sunnyvale CA with his wife Ari and two hyper-kinetic cats.

I didn’t create the banner. Our marvelous graphic designer has that honor, and deserves the kudos!
